I never gave the stiff springs much thought. I put them on back in the 80's and replaced them after about 10 years and 80,000 miles because i thought that they might have lost some tension. Now I have the front QA-1 semi coil over with even stiffer spring and I drove it to work today. I have 275/17 fronts and 335/17 rears
We leave in the morning for the Monterey Historics at laguna Seca. We have 10 cars
We just got back from the Pre-historics. Porsche is this years feature car. So there was something like 23 962's. To bad half of the owners are scared to run them with the petal to the metal. Our owner with his 1966 Lola chevy was just blowing past them with only 680 hp.
Something like $37 million dollars worth of cars. I rode down in the transport which only holds 6 cars and we had another trailer bring the other cars. the owner of the McClaren told me that when he had mario andretti as a driver they installed a twin turbo 496 big block that made 1100 hp in an attempt to beat the Porsche 917s. right now it is only about 800 hp injected 500 some ci

I'll be at the track Saturday. Concouros Italiano on Friday. I'll try to find you. What do you look like?

What is this fascination with trying to turn a four-tired vehicle into a tricycle? Four tires have more grip than three tires. A front tire off the ground is usually the result of one of two things: A dip in the pavement, or excessive front roll stiffness/insufficient rear roll stiffness. Fix the suspension, and use all four tires to get the car around the corner quickly.
(Hope I haven't hurt anyone's feelings.)

your car will do the same thing when you push it hard enough. This is with the 550's and big 1.125 sway front and 420 5 leaf rear spring.

great picture
but, now my feelings are hurt. I am quitting the internets!!!
btw... i saw my very first ever NASCAR race (small road course) and was surprised that nearly all of them will pull a wheel off the ground on the tight corners too. I had honestly never seen that before.

the Intrepid transport is on the south side of the main entry way street. My name is George, and it is on my work shirts
That's so cool to have that many toys to play with. That is a rare opportunity.

They weren't working and i didn't want to put them down manually. I should have for the pictures. You have to duct tape the headlights.
I've found no noticable difference in cooling between headlight positions.
Take a look at that back tire. The tread is probably 2" inboard of the rim. I feel pretty good that i was pushing that setup with those tires to their max.
Oregon, Good for you that you have decent tires. One big regret so far is that i have never been out on race tires.

Damn that is a good looking McClaren. I would love to have something like that for the street. The Areil Atom comes closest to what I want. They have some very nice GT40 kits, but all of them are coupes. Oh, you look marvelous too George. See you Saturday.

I just modified my center license plate area for increased cooling a weight savings. I lost 25 lbs, on top of the 45lbs lost by losing the battering ram/air tank, and my street temps dropped 15 degrees. Check it out: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...-the-73-a.html

Hey we are here at the track today and I was looking at the map. Corvette Forum has a paddock just before the cross over car bridge leading up to the Cork Screw.
Anybody running a Berry Grant or Holley carb. ever experience fuel starvation after several corners? The standard floats are adjusted correctly and the car runs fine on the street and down the straight aways. However, after several consecutive turns my car was experiencing fuel starvation during my last trip to the track and the engine would stumble just slightly (you could hear it more than feal it). Since I only had a 1/2 tank of fuel, I thought it might be the issue so I filled up on gas, but the problem still persisted.
I'm wondering if anyone makes a road race float bowl that are tapered at the ends similar to Holleys circle track floats, which are tapered but only on one side for this exact issue on circle track cars.
I guess the other solutions would be to customize my float bowls (not sure if this is possible), add foam baffles, or increase fuel bowl volume.
I run a Holley. What model do you have? The only starvation I experience is in one particular turn at my local track; a long, sweeping, high-g double apex left hander. I used to think that running my rear float 1/2 turn low for autocross was the problem, but this year I I ran the float at standard level and still had the issue.
Does your carb have center hung floats?
Do you have the problem after braking, or just mid corner?

I had a similar problem with my demon 750. Kind of an instantaneous hiccup on uphill tight turns with WOT. I talked to a race carb shop and they sold me the new NASCAR longer needle and seats that are anti-foaming and I installed the old drag racing idea jet extensions in my rear bowls. He also told me to run the fuel at under mid sight glass level.
The other potential problem is: As you start exceeding one "G" turns fuel can slosh out the bowl vents. So you can run a tube from front to rear vent with a "T" in the middle to the open air. Then any fuel slosh won't give you that instant rich.
