I've thought of running my '75 at some track days like the ones COM does. I've done a bunch to my car, but don't want to make it completely unstreetable. Any suggestions? I do have track day experience, but with fwd VW's.
Has original springs for now, putting on Bilstein HD's soon. Have replaced everything on the front end including poly bushings for the control arms. Standard rotors with EBC greenstuff front and rear, new brake master and booster. Headers w/ dual exhaust (including high-flow cats).
Considering The jeep power steering box and mono-leaf rear spring(lbs?). Good as is or should I do more? It's an L-48 putting down 185hp at the rear wheels, through a th400. Don't thinK I need to do any engine mods for now.
Thanks in advance for any advice you have.
I would concentrate on getting some good wheels and tires first thing. See above.
I'm probably just going to go with some relatively sticky street tires. 275/40/17
i was thinking the sumitomo HTR Z for 88 bucks each. Treadwear rating of 160 should give a decently sticky tire and cheap enough so you can burn through them without breaking the bank.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
What do those weigh per corner?
with a 29 pound tire mounted that puts me at 67.5. The guys with newer vetts are talking about tire and wheel weights in the 45 - 55 pound range. At least i shed 10 pounds with the wilwood dynalites. There's just nothing cheap, wide and light that will work with the C3 without adapters which are illegal and dangerous.
George the street hoosiers are a good idea but expensive and i am poor. I have to race on a shoestring budget.

Have you guy's heard of this?
As far as the extra weight Turtle,,,,I really don't think you'll notice it. The increase in grip will out weigh the extra poundage.
Scott...
I haven't yet looked for track only tires for 15 or 16 inch rims (possibly slicks?)
Dave
The biggest slicks I found for 15" wheels are 225/45's which would most likely be way too small. Then if you move up to 16" wheels Hoosier offers a slick in 275/45 which would be perfect for the rear. Kuhmo also offers a couple different styles of slicks in 265/45/16 which would also work on our cars.

In the Hoosier Street TD, the appropriate sizes offered are 245/45-15, 245/60-15 and 275/60-15.
Hoosier does not make the 275/45-16 street td DOT tire anymore. The last time they made this tire was the year 2000. They do offer a non-DOT "Hoosier TD" vintage tire (25.5x10-16) that is basically the same tire except not DOT approved.

There are also a couple of 15" sizes in the DOT radial.
As funny as that is, I'm gonna have to disagree. I have a 1 1/4 front bar and a 3/4 rear bar and my car feels to be almost neutral steer when I lose it. My car oversteers a bit, but not much. I lost it pretty bad into a turn once and the car just slid sideways. My car also prob weighs the same as your car, I have alum heads, intake, trans, wheels, no ac, no spare. I haven't read this whole thread so forgive me if someone already said this, but first and foremost I'd get rid of those 15s. You don't have massive fender flares for formula style tires like TT has, so 15s are working against you. Out of everything that I've done suspension wise, the 17s offered the biggest improvement.
Also I have 550 VBP front 360 VBP rear with Bilsteins FYI.

I find i like a bunch of oversteer in autocross but on the big track looseness can be hazardous to your health.
In regards to tires I supposed not one soltuion will solve everyones problems since some of us run flares while others don't, various wheels and depending on if its a sanctioned event rules limit tire use.
For me I'm running flares cut from Vanacours L88 panels. I'd go ACI flares in the future instead of cutting from a panel although it has worked well so far.
On the car right now I have CCW 17"x10" front rims with Kuhmo ECSTA MX 275/40-17 tires and on the rear I have 18"x12" rims with 295/35-18 tires.
What I'm open for is running used/new racing slicks or other DOT tires on 15 to 16 inch rims as a low cost alternative that would give similar width and diameters. Overall the Kuhmos are a not too expensive for the performance they offer. It would be nice to have other options available so I could have ready a set with lower cost wheels to keep on the trailer.
