WTF?

How many dyno machines you think Goodman has?

I'm getting madder by the minute.

Anybody near Platte City want to check this place out for me? Worth a few cold suds and a steak dinner if you ever come south. (True South that is).
Here it is:

Here's a pic, looks like a field....

I bet they have some stealth dyno machines setup in that field :

So where is this BluePrint shop anyway ? Makes me nervous when you go to a web site and you can't find a physical address only a email and 1-800 number.

GO to the Shafiroff site and they tell you where they are located on the home page, I guess they want you to come on down to the shop

Here is a yellow page add with a listing for Goodman. You can view their add in the right corner. Yellow Page - Goodman

It shows 904 2nd Street as the address.

Ever get that feeling you have be had? I'm scared to even ship the motor back now. They could take it back, deny warranty, and hang me for big bucks to ship it back if I want it back. Dayum......

Just curious...

Why didn't you put in a 400 crank and make it a 383 stroker? Your existing hardware should handle the add'l torque and it's a really fun, low-end power set up?

or, is this ole school... seems like your getting a lot of hp outta this configuration?

Calm down!

If you were the engine supplier, you've seen a lot of s*it from your end too. The FIRST thing you would want is the engine returned.

Getting your 3rd party inspection done will give you all the assurance you need that they can't make up stuff.

Notifying the credit card is excellent - they should have set up a file and usually have a waiting period before releasing funds which may now have a hold. Make sure you have formally filed the dispute so they will hold funds.

Sounds like from here it's all standard operating proceedure. They obviously do need to see the engine - you would too.

It also sounds like this may not have been the engine build you contracted for and you don't want a replacement engine from them. That may be your only warranty recourse. I know what it's like to feel pride in your new custom engine and lose that feeling because you now don't trust the builder.

You just have to return the engine. You have good pic's and will have a local inspection (in writing) - your bases are covered. All communications with them should be via email so you have hard copy. I wouldn't let them know about this thread. Don't do anything that may bite you in the butt you can't erase your wrong actions or words, so move slowly.

Lastly have you spoken to Goodmans? I contracted for a custom chevy that I put into a jag years ago only to find out he turned right around and had a local mass-production shop build it. Goodmans may shed some light on what's in your engine and may even warranty it also. Their number is easy to find on Google.

Peace & love & don't forget to breathe. You'll look back on all this some day and it'll just be a distant nightmare.

I think if you would have let them know about this thread so they could see the damage that is being done to their reputation about 10,000 views ago you would allready have a replacment on your door step or a full refund and it would be over.carefull there is a lot of damage being done. A lot of companys dont even know what their employees are doing or their contractors ,suppliers etc. some heads are going to roll.

Yea, I saw the cracked piston casing. I mean on the replacement motor. He commented on how much he really liked the power. Not much more money for the 383 and it's a really fun low-torque engine. That's all I was saying.

By "existing hardware", I was referring to the trans & rear end that he's expressed concern about over loading.

Bucky......how about you chillin' out. You're jumpin' in this string way to late to give advice on how I should act, or play the game. I am very calm about this deal, have been from the start. I haven't pitched a fit yet about this ordeal. Yea, I'm pizzed. But not crazy mad or anything.

I have said from the start if this is my fault then fine. Questions are just arising about the engine builder and their advertising is all.

Thanks for your concern.

Okay, I just got up... turned on the computer and logged on to your thread because I just thought of something that I felt was pretty important, but I can see you got it from here.

you know maybe its time to get a definitive explanation from them regarding who built your engine and do they routinely use subconctractors to build there engines? ask them to explain the shipping ticket....lets just say for arguments point that they do have some reasonable standards for making engines but due to demand they had to subcontract out a few.....they probalby are not happy with there subcontractor and are very embarassed about this whole situatuion....they probably are very interested to see the subcontractors workman ship.....thats why they are agreeing to all that you ask for....

and of course is there then misrepresentaion about who was building your engine???? i'm sure the advertisement didn't say subcontracted out to the lowest bidder...

Let this be somewhat of a "wake-up" call. Most of ya'll up here don't have the "behind-the-scenes" picture of what goes on with ALL "large" builders. By "large" I mean "mass-produced" performance units. We just did 25+ of these units for one of the "largest" suppliers in the industry! Close to 40 employees and still can't deliver on time without using some
"outside" help! This is why we stress "stay with your local builder" if it's at all possible. Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. We do have 3 rules we adhere to strictly on "performance" units:
1-Don't ever use hyper-eutectic pistons.
2-Don't ever use hyper-eutectic pistons.
3-Don't ever use hyper-eutectic pistons.
One of the major reasons the "new" car mfr's. can get with by them comes right down to the "electronics" involved in the ignition system (computer-controlled). The unit "knows" when to "add or subtract" the required timing!!!!!!
