I watching the video and noticed when you rev up and back off the vacumn only goes to about 18 ---I can get 24 out of this 350 and its duration is more than yours.

Also, I don't need any of those vac lines to run my engine right. I was thinking of unpluging them all then testing the vac. To see it I have a leak somewere.

I was reving about the same as yours ---your reading might not come as high because your throttle plates are open more(higher idle)No you dont need the vac line except the PVC--keep that hooked up that keeps your crankcase gasses clear.

Ok, I'll hook up the PCV and then unhook everything else.

Does anyone know an easy way to check to see if the camshaft is 1 tooth off (without taking the cover off?) I know the long drawn out way and its almost as easy to just take the cover off.

Ok, with just the pcv hooked up I get 10-11. But it still will backfire. But not as easy.

I didn't check, I'll hook up the brake booster and try to put it into gear. But don't I need to have the vac line to the tranny hooked up also?

I hooked up the brake booster and the line to the tranny. My vac is still 11 and it doesn't kill in gear. Might be cause my idle is still a little high in gear it is at 1000 out of gear it is about 1200-1300. So I might stall if I bring it down.

What is the line to the tranny anyways? Is it for shifting?

So you gonna try a carb change or get an adapter?Do you think you should start a new thread about vacumn input?

It goes to the vac. modulator and yes it will allow an upshift.

Just thought I would toss this into the mix. A Lars quote from a previous backfire issue.

"Your jetting doesn't sound right, and it doesn't match the BG jetting requirement for any 750 MD carb. Your symptoms are those of a lean condition. Jet the carb to its correct stock specs and then bump it up 2 sizes if you need to in order to cure the backfire. Backfire through the carb (if timing and valve problems are not the case) is a lean condition."

I hope not to offend anyone or misuse the search feature by providing this quote.

Good luck with the new setup, I feel your pain while remembering similar challenges many years ago in my Father's dirt floor garage rebuilding engines and trannies.

Ya, I think people might find this thread overwhelming at over 200 posts. We could still talk about it in here and I'll start a new one.

The only way I can think of is using a degree wheel.

The kid will have to the bank to take out a loan if he has to keep going out to buy tools.

I will try jetting up like you say. Can't really hurt anything.

Can I just get the jets at an auto parts store, like the one I got the carb at? How do I know the stock size, take then out?
