Did you do another comp.check with only 2 to3 strokes? If you have a vacumn gauge it should read around 15 inches of vacumn.

I watched your video and it looked to me like the motor is runnig counter clockwise. The motor should run clockwise.

Have you tried backing off each valve 1/8 turn ? Try that it might tell us something.I cant imagine your engine being so timing sensitive--you've had the timing all over the place. You didnt give up did you?

No, but my frustration level is through the roof. So take off my valve covers and back off all my valves 1/8 turn? When I adjusted them I tightened until it stoped tapping then went 1/4 turn more.

So, I started loosening my rockers and they seem too loose if I back them off. So I put it back. The way they are now there is no play in the rocker, but I can spin the pushrod.

So you think I could have bent some valves? How would I have done that with my rockers a 1/4-1\2 turn to tight? When I did it with the engine running before I started it that is about how much I loosened them to get it right. Plus I never heard a metallic noise.

When you took the play out the first time had you primed the engine? No oil in the lifters would let them bottom out.If they were and you went a 1/4 it might have done it.

I dont know how wild your cam is --the wilder it is the easier it would be to bend valves. Is your cam hydraulic----could they have given you solid lifters in your kit?

There was alot of assemly lube coating all of the parts, and I filled the oil through the heads with the valve covers off pouring it into each hole were the pushrods were evenly. That is when I had the rockers to tight. I tried starting it adjusting the timing and other assorted stuff and cranked it quite a bit. Then I took the play out and hit the key it fired right up and smoke a little bit from the assembly lube that was all over. I adjusted the all the lifters to stop tapping. Then backed off until it tapped and then tightened 1/4 turn after it stoped, 1 by one.

Bent valves can be ruled out with a vacumn gauge or by a cylinder leak test.

This is the exerp on the package:
You get fully assembled Holley cylinder heads, an intake manifold, and a Lunati cam with 235°/240° duration at .050, .490/.490 in. lift, and 112° lobe separation. You also get lifters, hardened pushrods, head bolts, a double-roller timing chain and gears, and assembly lube.
The cam isn't very wild at all. Just more so than stock which is a dog.

My buddy has a vac gauge. I can get it tommorow. Do I just hook that up to my manifold vac?

Leak test is the best.
