Hi B77,
On my 71 that bolt is a 9/16" x 18. Grade 8.

Alan is correct as always, but Good luck finding them anywhere other than one of the corvette parts suppliers. I have checked all over no one has 9/16 X 8 in grade 8 or 5

I looked all over and could not find them either. I got mine from zip, nice to have the new bushings also

My '69 has had 1/2"-13 X 8" grade 5 bolts in it for 25 years now without any problems.

Just sayin...

i'll answer your question - yes 10" will work to lower it even more. but check to make sure you have adequate clearance between them and the road

If you have a farm or construction equipment dealer in your area they carry 9/16" and larger hardware. I bought both 8" & 10" grade 8 9/16" bolts and nylock nuts from a Caterpillar tractor dealer.

I have a pair of 8" bolts i'll sell you for really cheap. I got them from VB&P when I bought my new monoleaf. I ended up keep my 10" bolts cause i like my car low.

Just send me a PM if you're interested.

10" will bring you alot lower. I actually put a spacer inbetween the nut/washer to raise the car up a bit more than the threads on my 10" bolts would allow.

I just used high strength threaded rod and locking nuts. The rod is about 8" long, and is infinitely adjustable. I bought it from a local bolt supply place. They had to special order them, because what they had was not strong enough.

I have seen some cheap on eBay as well.

the top as we know is a hex head how did you get the bolts to tighten down? crossthread a nut to the top?

Ever hear of loctite? They make one that's pretty much permanent.

Default rear lowering bolts

McMaster-Carr. good prices and super fast. keep in mind you may need wheel re-alignment when finished.

Remember when lowering the rear it's a good idea to keep the half shafts parallel to avoid added wear to the u joints. Order the bolts from VB&P then just cut them when you have the proper height..........

I just put a fiberglass rear spring on the back of one of the cars today, and went to Fastenal to get 10" bolts(5/8s),but the shank wasn't treaded far enough up to give me all the adjustments I wanted,so.....took them to a machine shop, and they charged me 10.00 to thread them further up the shank.I'm sure they can get you the 8" one.If you go w/the 10s....it will let you go where you want, then you can cut them as suggested above...once you get your stance.
