Is the TCS switch in the head a standard type thread? I ask because I just put electric fans in my 71 and remembered this switch. I have the TCS pieces, but I'm more or less bypassing them anyway since I just run my advance off the carb. I'd been looking to see if I could use the existing switch to trigger the fans and finally thanks to you all I found out how it works, but I don't think triggering at 232 degrees would help me, lol. Could I just replace this switch with a standard electric fan temp swtich or am I going to run into problems with threads, etc.? Thanks for the help!
Can anyone tell me how the green wire from the Temp switch in the head is routed to the connector on the fire wall. Over to the inner fender then back?
Hi Gary,
The jumper wire runs from the harness connector to the switch. The extra length of the jumper wire IS JUST BUNDLED UP with a small piece of old fashion black cloth electrical tape!!!! You can imagine how long that lasted!!!!
Regards,
Alan
PS: I sometimes see the jumper wire looped through the clip for the 2 heater hoses that mounts on the front of the heater air-box, but I don't think that's the way St. Louis did it. Those same cars often have the pvc hose running through the hole in the front engine lift bracket. Sorry for being a snot!
Thanks Alan. The wire seems to be WAY to long for the distance it has to go to reach the connector. It'll be hard for me not to cut it to the correct length, but I guess I'll coil it up like it's suppose to be.
