had my two grandsons over last weekend, and they were playing "race car" in my 70 vert (the 2 year old makes great engine and screeching tire sounds). the ten year old held his brother in his lap. their mother finally pried them out of the car after much protestations.
the next time i drove the car the head lights wouldn't function properly. i assumed that one of the vaccum lines to the over-ride valve had been kicked off by little feet. no big deal, they're my grand children.
after a little searching, i saw that the plastic vaccum filter in line with the check valve had split open, and of course was leaking vaccum. a litle super glue and all was well. just wanted to bring this weakness to your attention(not the tolerance of a doting grandfather, the filter's).
im with you jnb......my 3 year old grandson (rocco) likes to play in my 66, turn the wheel back and forth, slobber on the dash etc. as he makes sounds, walks on the seats and console with stocking feet while having a great time and grinning......my wife and kids look at me with dismay....i look back at them shrugging my shoulders with a big smile......ain't it great!!......
Your description of the kids in the car was great. I can almost remember how I felt playing in the car as a little kid...right before I took it out of gear and let it roll into the garage door.
How about a 3 years old helping visitor while you're working?
No, I didn't give her the rubber gloves, she sneaked to my drawer and wore a pair by herself and came to me in the car!! .. luckily I had my camera with me while shooting some areas in the car!
I remember when my son was still in one of those round walkers (he's now 26 so he'd not appreciate this story if he saw it) and he'd gotten hold of a poorly placed screwdriver (daddy slaps his own hands) and was "helping" me with the 65 vert.
I quickly traded him my screwdriver for one of his over-sized plastic ones.
No damage done thank heavens.
