Tim is coming Sunday night. Local guy Steve Morgan has been working side by side with Stan and is really contributing.
Underhood is finished, 3 coats of poly and epoxy primer. Looks beautiful.
Stan has put in a day and a half mostly on the top. She looks FINE now! Ready for poly then Standox primer on Saturday. Rich, this may not be to your standards but will certainly be good enough to stand with the best at any car show I attend!
A lot of time being spent on underside of deck lid. The lighter gray ribs will be car color. The darker gray parts will be black.
Door jambs and hinges are finished in epoxy primer. Coming together nicely!!
Saturday the entire car should get 2nd coat of Standox primer. Will likely get moved to the paint shop Sunday for final prep and paint.
I was excited to see it in gel coat, then primer. The tribute to Stan's work is when you see it assembled, it just "looks like a car" without a lot going on. To get to that place has taken an enormous amount of creativity, dedication and hard work. My brick at the NCM says "Never Settle" and I have the right guy doing the bodywork and paint on Bruiser without question. He is more **** than I am! Yes can't wait to see a blue car again.
We are going to take seats and door panels and set them next to my Z06 today to make sure the blues will work together. I am planning to paint Bruiser C6 Lemans Blue which I think will be striking. Wouldn't want to get all done and hate the color combo after what I have invested in completely redoing leather seats.
Brusier will be a true dream car when complete. I know that along with skill it takes $$$.
Ahhhh yessir it always takes more, sometimes much more than you expected going in. No fault to anyone...these all out projects are likethat. I get started and don't want to settle anywhere.
We had problems Sunday with some kind of contaminant in my compressor or air lines so couldn't spray primer 2nd coat yesterday. We loaded everything up and moved the car down to my friend Larry's paint shop where today we had 4 people working non-stop to prepare the car for final paint. We've lost a day now and are cranking to make some of it up at least.
Here we are finishing up the glass work inside the fenders to complete the fenderwells. Many bodywork folks don't do that attention to detail but nothing less than the best here.
People are always moving as the punch list of remaining items before paint get checked off.
Tim is masking off headlight covers. We will paint doors, hood, headlights, rear deck off the car but with the same batch of paint as the rest of the car so all one color when we assemble it.
We checked the paint color against the VIN # of my new Z06 so they will be EXACTLY the same color!
More pics soon! Stay tuned! This is 18 months of work about to come to fruition!
We have drawn first blood....err first color. Stan and Tim did the door jambs, underside of the rear deck, and the back side of the doors. They also did final prime coat of the car, hood, top, headlight covers.
Although Stan didn't want me to show stuff til it's done, I do just have to show you this one corner of the door inners. Check out how the paint lights up on the edges. Car is going to be amazing. This is just a Blackberry camera photo. Wait for daylight!!
Tomorrow is wetsanding all day, assembling the car again and Thursday is paint and clear on the entire car.
I'm starting to get excited about the car being done!
Very sweet! What kind of seats did you put in your coupe? How tall are you? I've got to rethink my interior color and looking at changing seats at the same time.
Very nice! I am building a 69 tribute to the Greader LeMans car and bought the windshield wiper panel from Stan. Finishing up small stuff now but hope to have it track worthy by the end of the year. We need to get em side by side. Tell Stan if he has time I want to hire him to install the Lemans headlights, they are a bitch.

VERY nice car and like the color!
Doug
The seats are Acura RS seats. They were a TIGHT fit. I would not recommend them or use them in a C3 again. I'm looking at a set of S2000 seats for the 68 Vert project. BTW...love your project!
Doug,
I'd recommend you get with Todd and see if you like the feel and height of the C5 seats he has in his '68. I actually installed mine a little lower than his but there is less headroom in a coupe. Todd's pretty tall and says he fits fine so might be a solution for you. Plus, they are cool since they're from a 'vette and I think they look right at home in a C3. You could get some used ones and get some custom covers to grab some of the blue and/or silver from the body. Have you decided to change just the seats or the entire interior color?

Everything going to black. Is about 3600 from Corvette America without the seats or carpet to do so but has to be done.
Doug,
Don't tell me your purchasing all the stuff new in black? Sure, you'll need a carpet set but everything else can be dyed (painted). Heck, you've got some of the best painters working for you now!
