I don't know if they have J clips for #6 screws. They might be sufficient, however the single piece of steel will help reinforce the fiberglass a lot better. It might be fine, but for the small difference in the amount of work I figured GM knew what they were doing. Cars equipped with these from the factory had a single plate riveted in place where J clips would have been easier & cheaper.
I glued one surface at a time. For the first pass, I just glued in the surface that goes closest to the hole (the one that should do the sealing). After that had cured for a few days, I went back and folded the rubber back so that I could apply the glue to the surfaces that were left and finished the job.
ok didnt know there was a plate under the guides for extra support...good idea about gluing the hole side first...the second pass u just laid the glue in and let it contact without letting it cure? how did u keep the edge away from contacting?

I worked my way around about a foot or so at a time. As for how, it wasn't very graceful, that's for sure! They know what they're talking about when they call the adhesive glue "monkey snot".
Hi dry,
Yes that fits around the chrome window lock .
It was used up through about the beginning of the 71 model year. Here's the lock on my #6589 71 that didn't have the bezel.
Regards,
Alan
I have the window, latches and gasket. I need the bezels and I believe there are some shims needed?
I have had J&D on htis and no response.
Any help out there? TIA
