Well, it sounds good. What is the outlet size....2"? Why didn't you make them 2-1/2"? Anyway, two pipes is much better than one. I'll give you a "thumbs up". ...especially for the engine compartment!

Your engine looks great. You need a better microphone. Frankly speaking, the audio sounds bad.

Clean car. The exhaust sounds healthy but it did not jump out at me. As mentioned above, nice new clean engine. Im jealous...

Needs larger exhaust. It needs to sound like you have a 406 in that Vette! LOL. Let the neighbors know what you have. Great engine compartment...I agree. I have 3" pipes into 4" tips. It wakes the neighbors.

Here's mine for you to compare. You have to forward it up to 45 seconds. I was by myself that day recording. Hope you can hear it.

Both cars are really nice! I have to agree, however, that the larger exhaust sounds a lot meaner. If I personally had a monster motor in there, I wouldn't care if my neighbors hated me!! My 80 has a 383 in it with Flowmasters, and the sound is almost too quiet. The 76 that I am building is going to have a 91 350 TPI motor in it, and I've even considered straight pipes. Ok....maybe not straight pipes...but a nice system with considerable growl to it!

My neighbor has a 79 with factory exhaust and motor.... *yawn*.....not enough excitement for me. I'm all for noise!!!

Default Exhaust Pipes

Hey Deja,

I put 2 1/2 " chambered pipes on mine. I don't have the tech to show you the sound, but they sound just like a '67 side pipe car. The pipes are in the exact position of the original set up except for the header connection.

I agree on the chambers. I have true dual 2.5 inch chamberd exhaust with only 2 18 inch resonators , I love it!

Chev, that sounds like what I'm looking for! Can you take some photos of the setup, just to give me an idea of how it looks? Thanks!!

You have 3 inch dual pipes, not sure if I can get that size going under the car all the way, back, espcially since I do not have those frame crossmember holes. Do you have mufflers?
Very nice car, very clean. Good job.

Here is a link to the place that sells the best Chambers IMO, they are true sized, this link has a lot of pics and sound clips. My buddy is selling his shop and has a huge supply of these resonators that he needs to sell, they are from the same place, you could take them and have a setup built like I did, and if its too loud, you can add a couple more resonators on the end or an X pipe or crossover.

Yes, it has mufflers. I actually installed Raven mufflers on it. I also have them on my Dodge Hemi truck. The truck was first and I liked the sound so much I figured I would try them on the Vette. If you don't have the crossmember holes they should be able to install hangers...I think.

Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Pilot,

Man!!! I reeeeeally dig that sound! I like the sidepipe sound, just not the sidepipe price that usually is associated with that sound! What can a guy expect to pay for the chambered pipes like that...I mean, for JUST the pipes? I would consider buying a set and having my local muffler man put them on in a true-dual setup. If you can find out and let me know, that would be awesome. Also, if it helps a fellow forum member's buddy, that's an added bonus!

marz------That is the sound of heaven, coming out of your car. One fine machine to go along with it also. I can't wait for spring to get here in Kansas. One big rain storm to wash down the streets, and I will be back on the streets. Have a great one. Gene
