81 help

does an 81 have any ignition safety switches? i cant get power for selonoid when key is turned to start. thanks

Not near my service manual, but I remember that the alarm system can disable the ignition if that helps.

There is a neutral safety switch on the side of the shifter for automatics. Stick cars will have a safety switch on the clutch pedal. If you have a auto, sometimes the park position will wear out. You can put it in neutral and it will start.

Try the plug of the starter harness. It's a large clear/white plug that's usually near the rear of the passenger side valve cover. Sometimes that comes loose or gets corroded. If that connection isn't good, you won't get power to the starter.
