OK tonight I cut up my header. These are supposed to fit wit hthe Steeroids but as seen before they do not at all. I was not going to dimple them as that looks like it does not fit and I just don't want to do it that way. So I bought a 180 bend and my welder buddy Ronnie and I attacked it tonight. We cut up the tube and measured many times before cutting the header tube. It all looks good now and you can see the semi final product. He will tig weld it all up later. We just tacked it all together first to see how it all fits. Looks good so far. I will most likely have the header recoated once it is all tigged together and everything is OK with it. Not looking forward to paying for that. OH well. Hereis 3 crappy pictures I took with my phone at his shop. At least it shows what we did.
Laying out piece of tube to get it squared up before fitting into header pipe.
Here is the piece tacked into the header pipe. Hope we got it in the right spot
The shut off by pass valve is interesting. I have Vintage Air and installed a manual shut off valve from Home Depot since I will basically never need heat here in Miami and have not noticed any problems with over heating or circulation since I got the rest of the cooling system sorted out. I run at 160* now with the 160* t-stat and 180* when fans kick on.
Just an fyi on the thermostat and HCV. I'm done 2 LSX swaps, one with Vintage Air, one Classic Auto Air. Both have standard heater control valves without a bypass. No issues with either of them
Gordon, that sure looks nice compared to the dimples you had to do with your previous headers and my hooker headers on the 77 to accomodate the rack and pinion steering. If you document this well with some dimensions and some pictures I am certain others here on the forum will gain from what you have learned and done with this swap. I had no idea how much you were getting into with the swap and admire you doing it buddy. Keep up the great work and look forward to hearing more as you move forward.

Owning a C6 Z06, I can only imagine how this Vette drives with no stability control computer to cut the throttle when it gets "slideways" PRETTY NEAT Vette
Header is done now. Here are a few shots of it. Tig welded in the pipe. I sprayed some high temp paint but will remove it at sometime to get it recoated. Not happy about spending good money on a fit only to have to spend it again to refit and recoat the header. Oh well such it is when doing custom work.
Been a little slow recently. Work and stuff has taken up some of my time. Just still doinga lot of wiring and making sure wverything is installed correctly and neatly. Every bitof wiring has had to me modifed and rerouted. Should make somecprogress this weekend but I will be gone next week for business. Always take longer than expected. i will post a few pictures this weekend of some of the progress.
