I'm getting ready to drop my LS3 into the chassis, do you have any pics where you attached the chains to the motor to lift and what size bolts they were? Thanks

This is getting good! Glad to see it is on track and it looks like you will be making some noise soon.
Should be a fun ride.

First real maiden voyage today other than on/off trailer. It has a bad tune right now but I could not resist a short drive around the hood. This is going to be a fun ride I will say. Just a little on it in 2nd gear and it just squirts. Can't wait for the tune to be on and get it more road worthy. LS power is just amazing. Pretty happy with the swap so far.

Gordon,

What starter do you have? My starter is rubbing the ARH headers.

I am running the stock starter. Where is it rubbing the headers. I can take some pictures tomorrow for you. Here is my stock starter and the header clearance. Plenty of space.

Isn't it awesome to drive it again even if it isn't perfect. I am still working out a few little bugs on mine but it sure is nice to be able to cruise around.

Yes it was sure nice to go up through a few gears and hear the motor and everything working. I have no gauges in the car and about 1/2 an interior but it runs and was able to move under its own power again. Very cool.

I got a cheap wifi obd2 reader that talks to my iphone (probably android too) off eBay. 20 bucks maybe. Anyway, you can read engine temp, ambient air temp, timing, etc. my ecu is not hooked to the vss but since yours is, you should be able to read that the same app, although I used gps for that. Once I got the gauges hooked up it was nice to compare the two sets of info.
The bad part, for me, is that I still have not been able to tune mine either. You can run a scanner through my obd, but for some reason hp tuners does not want to hook up. I am working on that now. So like you I have driven mine around, actually put 1300 miles on it, but not really seen what my motor car do. Yours should really be fun.

Hopefully one of these years I can get mine as clean and shiny as yours. Great work.

I'm lucky I have 2 very good tuners within an hour of me. ECS and Tune Time. I have talked to both of them and they are kind of eager to get a unique car in their shop and tune it. Busy month coming up work wise but I hope to get it in there soon.

Finally got my Autometer tach to work. With a resistor and a combo nation of the dip switches it finally works and matches what the scanner is telling me for Rpms. Now to get the dash back in.

My autometer was reading 2x rpm, so I pulled it out and set the dip switches and it worked. For a while. That is the odd part. It worked, and the it reverted to 2x rpm.
These ls motors really pull about 12,000 rpm. :-)
I want to figure out what's up with that before I pull the dash one more time this fall/winter.
Glad to see things coming together for you. It has been a long time coming.

On mine the guys who made my harness, PSI told me to get a resistor and run it in the 4 cylinder mode. I did this and it finally worked but the Rpms were off. Now the autometer instructions give you both switches down is the 4 cylinder mode. Left down right up is 6 cylinder and both up is 8 cylinder. I finally ended up with left up right down and the resistor and it was right in line with what the OBd scanner was giving me for rpm. So whatever works is fine with me. I even checked at various Rpms and they are all good.

Let's get back to this. After an engine and trans swap on a forum members car and a complete brake Nd steering refresh on another it's time to get back to mine. I have an issue with the Hyd cluth setup. When I ran the T 56 behind the Gen 1 SB with a Centerforce clutch I wanted fast clutch action. I put in. Tilton MC with a 7/8 bore. It was fast and a short throw. It worked. Now with the LS motor and a Monster clutch for the LS setup the throw is way to short. They don't need much movement. Sooo I bought a 3/4 bore MC and that will be going in shortly. The clutch was way to touchy and was either " in or out" tough to move it around. Once rolling it was ok but it got stalled a lot at idle.
My speedo still is not working but the tach is working perfectly now.

And oh dummy here has no center gauges so no fuel level. It all of. Sudden ran like cramp trying to get it up and down the driveway. Check the easy things first. FUEL LEVEL DUMB A$$. Oh well at least I have a cool fuel pressure gauge setup now.

Gordon,
Did you stick with the standard gas tank setup or did you move over to a fuel cell with the new LS motor setup? Just curious because I didn't remember if you were also modifying that portion of the fuel feed system for this new engine.
Looking forward to seeing your car later this month.
Best regards,
David

I used the stock tank but used a Tanks inc fuel pump setup. Nothing stock except the tank that was pretty modded to get the fuel pump in the tank. Somewhere embedded in this whole thread should be the setup for it. It just seems like with my last little issue I cannot run the tank down to bone dry.

Glad to see you're back at it. I've got almost 1000 miles on mine already. Thanks again for the help you gave me on my project.
