Went thru all the same engine upgrades with my 76 L48.Was not happy until I changed the trans with a low first gear to get the holeshot with the 3.08 rear gears.It's my guess you have a TH350 trans with the stock 3.08 or 2.87 rear gears.To get the most out of the engine upgrades you'll need better gearing.This was my experience,good luck with your project...Aloha's

Let us know how it runs. That's all that matters. Even with 225/285, I have a blast with my '80 L48!!!
Unless you are planning to race this car in the 1/4 mile, you will have a BLAST with performance at this level. Gross numbers are close to 340hp and 420tq.
Remember, HP is for braggin' TQ is for winnin' races (or somethin' like that).
