So, both of my headlights pop up and work but my passenger side acts a little off. It always pops up last and doesn't open up as high as the driver side light. Also, when it is up you can apply a little pressure to it and it will easily go back down. Does this sound like a diaphragm issue or just a rubber issue in general........???

I used rebuild kits from a vender here, but be warned, the clevis does not come free from the actuator easily. Even after rebuilding them, mine don't travel at the same speed. I am happy that they travel at all though. Also, it was easier to get them in and out with the hood removed.

Okay... I know I've been full of questions and problems so.... to keep character... here I go again.

This morning around 10 o'clock I fired up the 'vette and let it warm up for about 5 - 10 min. I had the A/C off the entire time. When I went out to do my oil check (that's why I was warming it up). I noticed a good amount of dripping fluid on the underside of the car on the passenger side of the vehicle. I looked under the car and sure enough it was a fluorescent green/clear fluid. It was definitely coolant. In the 5-10 minutes it was idling I had developed a fair sized puddle and it was leaking a moderate amount.

I looked under the car and noticed the fluid was dripping between the starter and the engine. I didn't have a chance to crawl under and see where the fluid was coming from but it was definitely in that area. From the top I couldn't see any signs of leakage. Once I stopped the engine the leak persisted. I'm not sure for how long because I had to run to work but it didn't slow down within the next few minutes.

Here's the strange part. When I got home this evening I wanted to look in on the leak a little so first thing I did was open up my radiator to check for coolant level and the radiator is full.

I fired up the engine and let it warm up and idle for a good 15-20 minutes and no leak whatsoever.....

What's the deal?

Okay, I figured it out. There is a heat hose that runs from the heater control valve to the underside of the firewall. I noticed a spray of coolant coming from this hose about 10 inches below the control valve that was spraying onto the block. It was a small stream but steady enough to create a nice puddle in no time. It was sort of a pain to remove due to the crustiness of the hose/connectors but an $11 fix none-the-less.

So.... not all fun and games just yet. I have one little finnicky situation going on. When I pull the headlight switch to turn my headlights on my headlights pop up but only the passenger side low beam comes on. If I turn on the high beams then all four lights come on. If I turn the high beams off then only the passenger side low beam stays illuminated.

If I let the high beams stay on for about 5 minutes then when I turn them off both of my low beams stay illuminated.

So, I'm wondering what could cause the low beam to only come on with the high beams applied and then only after "warming" up in high beam mode. Please note that all four of the headlights have been replaced with new bulbs. Any ideas? Thanks!

Default Update

So... it's been nearly a year and I thought I would put an update out there with some pics. Since the last time I posted up I've done some suspension and steering work. The most major mod was just recently done and it was putting on 550lb VB and P front springs. It lowered about an inch and a quarter in the front. I also removed the ferrules on the rear window.

Here are the pics:

Looking good, how does it ride with the new front springs?
Are you happy that spring rate, or would you prefer to go a lower spring rate?
The stance looks great....enjoy..............Tom

I like the ride of the springs. They are noticeably tighter and provide a more direct feel to the road but I would like them softer. I prefer comfort over stiffness but I can definitely get by with these. I was planning on cutting the front springs which would have stiffened the car up anyways.

VBandP states that this will lower the car about 3/4" to 1" but I got about a drop of 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". I'm glad to get the front lowered and to get a more sleek slant.

Thanks again for all of the help!

Hey all, thanks again for all the help! The car's been running great but I noticed the other day that my coolant and oil temp gauges just sit at the minimum value and never pop up at all.

Where are the temperature sensors for the coolant and oil located? I guess I could check the back of the gauges for electrical activity to the gauges (from the sensors) but I would like to do a visual inspection of the sensors as well. Thanks in advance!

The coolant temp sensor is in the driver's side head near the front. The oil temp sensor is just above the oil filter.
