My starter went bad on my 1970 L46 car. When I was pulling the starter off, and manipulating it around the headers, there was a tremendous spark because this idiot forgot to disconnect the battery. I had the starter rebuilt, it works perfect but it seems that the red positive wire from the ignition has no power. I there a fuse I could have blown due to my stupidity? Any ideas.
As always – thank you in advance for all of your help.
The fusible link is just a smaller (thickness) piece of wire that is attached to the main power wire. The concept was that, if there were a 'dead short' in that line, the [thinner] fusible link would melt inside the heat-resistant insulation, and the circuit would be broken before a fire could insue or the starter were to become "toast".
If you wiggle the ends of those wires, you will likely find that there is carbon dust inside the insulation.
