Default Choke pulloff question

The choke pulloff on my '71 454 doesn't hold vacuum. There is one at NAPA, part number CRB24773 for $16.20.
Question, how do you remove the pulloff from the mount? Does it pull straight out and the new one snap back in?

Thanks

Hi 71,
I'm curious what the front 'cover' on your pull-off looks like?
Is it by any chance gray plastic with the R/P logo of Rochester products molded on it?
Thanks!
Regards,
Alan

No, it's off-white/yellowish in color...the original one from the factory. It looks like the one that Russ posted here:

Question, how do you remove the pulloff from the mount?
Where the plastic meets the metal there is a square mounting surface that gets pushed onto the choke mechanism. First you must bend the "tabs" of the choke mechanism holding the old pulloff open. Then you carefully slide the old one off. You can then slide your new one on and bend the "tabs" back into place.

Hi 71,
I'm looking for one that has this appearance.
I believe it's one year only.
Regards,
Alan

Are the tabs you're referring to in this photo?

Look where the pulloff meets the choke mechanism. The squared base of the plastic and the groove of the slot where it goes into.

I see RP on the front with 5 numbers, but it's not gray.
Have you seen other 71's with gray choke pulloffs?

Hi 71,
I really don't know.
That's what was on my base motor's carb, but it's certainly possible it was different on a 71 bb carb.
I see the white plastic and the metal pull-offs too.
???
Regards,
Alan

Alan, I have several of these R/P logo'd pulloff's. I am not in a position to take a pic now, but can later today. I have a top shell, one on my '70 L46 (not original) and several slow leakers. I could bring them to Carlisle if you want to see them in person.

Hi Dave,
Yes, I would be interested in seeing them… are you implying that they're that gray color?
Regards,
Alan

Alan, The pulloff on one of my cars appears to be a light grey color. It's hard to get a good picture of it installed. If you like I could pull it off and bring it to Carlisle. If it's what you want, I will trade it for another original one of any color, it doesn't matter to me.

Hi Dave,
It sounds like it could be what I'm looking for but I'd need to see it to be certain.
I don't have a pull-off to trade but would certainly be willing to buy it from you.
Regards,
Alan
