Question
Hello,
Any idea what the use of this switch is ? I found it hanging on its electrical cables when I took down the vapor canister and the windshield washer tank and pump.
This is the same kind of switch that is behind the headlights to detect headlights proper opening.
Thank you for your ideas :-) ...

Looks like the switch mounted to the headlamp system which 'tells' wherether the lights are fully open (or not).

You're right, this is the same, but this one is behind the vapor canister, on the left of the engine near the clutch mechanism, underneath the brakes mastervac. I really wonder what's its use ? and where it is supposed to be fixed ?

Hi phm,
The switch is also used as part of the anti-theft system on 75-E77 cars.
Maybe?

Alan

YES...this 'tamper' switch is so your alarm system would blow the horn if someone tried to pull the lock cylinder out of your fender to dis-arm the system. AND YES...as mentioned by '7T1vette'...it is the same at your headlights also.

Hi DUB,
Well, that certainly puts the switch in the 'neighborhood' phm described!
