Finally I got my Magnaflow mufflers on my Corvette.
Corvette Central Magnaflow mufflers did not fit very well to the "original pipes" from "Corvette America"... However, now that they are mounted... this is the perfect sound for me... deep, solid but smooth V8 rumble... as it should be (from my point of view). It could not be better... in other words... it is perfect! The sound is quite present at low speed and during acceleration but in cruising mode it is quite quite... so perfect for long distance driving.
Finally... i could not be more happy!
Cheers...
René
P. S.: Hope, everybody finds the perfect Corvette sound as i did!
Hi, sorry for hijacking This Thread with another related question for my 74 Coupe. I'm looking for a specific Muffler model number recommendation. From all I've read MagnaFlow seems the way to go. Here's my setup:
355, just under 10:1 compression, compcam 12-601-4, ceramic coated headers,1 3/4 primaries, 3" collectors. 2 1/2" mandrel bent, stainless exhaust. True duals, no X or H pipe. 700 R4.
what is the best way to minimize drone?
Has anyone used MagnaFlow resonators with MagnaFlow mufflers?

When I get my car done I hope it sounds like the clip below.
From Billy Joel, Movin' out. It always caught my ear...
Billy Joel told USA Today July 9, 2008: "In the song, there's the sound of a car peeling out. That was (bassist) Doug Stegmeyer's car, who at the time had a '60s-era Corvette. He took his little tape machine in the car and hung the microphone out the rear end, and started burning rubber, screeching away from his house.
I have Magnaflow XLs, and to be honest they're a bit quiet for my taste (got a good deal on them from someone fitting side pipes - twin 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with X pipe), but they sound very good at WOT. The 11:1 383 doesn't hurt either... Cruising at highway speeds with the 5 speed, the wind noise is louder than the exhaust. Here's some in car and out of car footage of the same run to give you an idea.

I heard an interview saying they used a GTO instead? )turbos and turndowns pretty sure
Cool beans the best way to kill drone is a turbo style muffler. Longer/bigger the case the better.
Very interested in people's opinions on this as I need new mufflers as well. I think I prefer the computer clips of magnaflow over Flowmaster. I'm looking for a real throaty sound. I don't like the "slappy" sound many get at higher rpm or when you let off the throttle. I don't want super loud either.
How do Borla compare to Magnaflow? I just rented a Charger r/t with a hemi ... That had a great sounding exhaust!
