Of course when we tried it the first time, one muffler wasn't tied up enough and, interestingly enough, power steering fluid never even made it onto the ****-list (Our list of **** to do). So back into the garage to put that in and fix the muffler.

Then for real! Everything worked well. Transmission is beautiful, hydraulic clutch rocks, suspension feels good, steering work well, and the power is absolutely unbelievable.

The only thing to work on is the brakes. They need to be bled more. I already jacked the back in the air to bleed the M/C and originally we used a power bleeder, but the pedal is still soft, so we will do some more bleeding. I also need to rebuild the parking brake I think. It is not strong enough.

Next is the custom exhaust system, hood (gets here Monday), and wheels and tires because those rocks on there now break loose if you sneeze too hard.

This was insanely successful and I am so happy!
Here are some short videos of us messing around. I was pretty timid on the burnout I will admit. I am not used to how this thing revs or the touchiness of the gas pedal.

Woohooo

Driving away with a strangly sideways camera angle.

Timid burnout.

Congrats Scott! You are gonna love it.

I got the hood today.
It looks pretty good.
But the GREAT news is that the air filter fits with about 3/4" of clearance!

YES!!!!!

That hood rocks. Since I’m copying you on just about everything with your build (SST trans, Sharkbite, etc) what vendor supplies that?
Cutting a hole in my stock 75 L48 Hood seems a little Dukes of Hazzard-ish haha.

Ha. That's awesome. Maybe a big 10-71 blower out the hood.

Here is the one I went with.
https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...1968-1972.html

I was impressed with how much hood clearance I got from it.

+ 1

The posted link just takes me to the Ecklers main site. Is it basically their L88 style with the lowest rise option?

Sorry for the bum link.
It is Eckler’s L-88 Long Hood.
The fit is good. I will bolt it down tonight to see what the gaps look like.

{What's a "10-71" blower??? Detroit Diesel engines came in 6-71 and 8-71 models; but I don't remember a 10 cylinder, 2-cycle engine in their lineup...}

Maybe one was designed especially for a Viper.

A 10-71 is just an exaggeration.

Awesome thanks. If I’m doing this new math right.... that means this hood will start rubbing at 4 7/8” breather height above the rails.

Very helpful thanks man.
