I get trying to keep it plain and simple under the hood.
I’ve deleted everything I don’t need and I’m spending hours planning how to run wiring harnesses and hoses.

Here's a bone stock (AFAIK) 82 L83.
The engine turns, but clearly needs a new intake. I'm torn between trying to fix it in place, or pulling the whole drivetrain. My hamstrings vote to pull.

Looks cool with all those rusty 43 year old electronics that somehow make an engine run. Would look cool with 8 coil packs on the valve covers too. I say pull it.
