1982 A/C Question
Is the fan supposed to run when A/C is on?
I know the fan is ok by grounding the temp switch.
If it is supposed to run, is it controlled through the control head?
Thanks for any advice!

Sometimes I will by-pass it and get he fan to come on and my A/C guy and I can often times see if this added fan is allowing the pressures of the system to be not so much on the high side and it actually aids in pulling more air across the condenser.
Does that fan need to be on...no way in telling unless you knew what your high side pressures were at and if it was 'borderline'. Now keep in mind that going down the road will all of the air being forced through the condenser. The electric fan more than likely is NOT needed. It is when you are sitting still is when it will more than likely be a benefit because you might be able to actually feel the air temp change.. Granted this will depend if you are on MAX A/C or the NORM setting.
So..it is up to you if you want to incorporate it while the car is idling or not if you feel it is needed at all. Because it can be wired to do just that. A relay, a trigger switch at your throttle and some wires and time.

Thanks for the info Dub. My high side seems to max out at 175 on a 90 deg. day. So will leave the electric fan on the thermostat for now.
