I know MPG isn't the coolest thing to talk about, but how much better would the mpg get on a stock (not numbers matching) '77 vette if i swapped the carb out for a fuel injector kit? Has anyone done it? Is it worth it? Thank you
Back when my 454 was carbed I got 9-9.5 mpg city. Now with EFI, more compression and more cam I get 11.5-12 mpg. 20% improvement is pretty good, I think. And that even though I replaced the 224/229 114 LSA cam with a 231/239 110 LSA which hurts mpg. I've also got 21 mpg highway but the 5 speed really helps there. Carbed was 15 mpg, but I had a 4-speed at the time so not comparable.
There are easily 50 threads on changing to fuel injection in this forum
mpg
Get fuel injection because of the easier ability to tune for mods, consistency in starting, longevity before needing rebuild, and self tuning for seasonality and altitude - not gas mileage.
If would take a couple hundred tanks of gas to break even to justify by gas mileage.

EFI alone does not double gas mileage between a 77 350 and an LS1 350. It's cam profiles, head design, compression ratios, transmission, gearing, etc combined.
Just my $0.02
My 69 with a 434SBC Dart pro 1 heads full roller valve train 200r4 and 3.08 rear gears was getting 21 to 23 mpg with a Holley spread bore. It didn't have a choke so when the temps went down it was very hard starting and the carb always very tempermental, I had gone through it three times and figured it was time for EFI. Went with the Sniper system. and cannot seem to get rid of RFI, it konks out a lot sometimes when going to accelerate it just bogs and now getting maybe 15 mpg. Thinking about going back to a choked carb. Disgusted T

Take it to a local tuning shop and have them evaluate the install. You should not be having those problems, 99% of the time installation or tuning is the cause of the problems you describe.
On my '72 the OEM L48 got maybe 16 freeway good day.....ran fine, no issues....put L98 top on it, and got 24 on the freeway.....no overdrive.....Muncie 4 speed 336 rear....
since then, 20 years ago, the car has grown a L98 engine with LT1 topper and HEI in back.....and a 200 4r trans and to be quite candid, the thing has never seen an entire day of freeway use, but city mpg picked up about 5 mpg....
Sounds good i have a 77 L-82 with a 4 speed and only get 20 on highway and 12 in city but i always have my foot in it. I thought of going in that direction to have easier starts and less plug following Let me know your out come!
