Default Header side pipe inserts

Can anyone out there tell me how the resonator inserts are installed. Do they just lay in the side pipe? My OBX header side pipes are not resonated because they were out of that type. Thought it would be easy to do. I have tried Google & all I keep getting is how to install the side pipes. One site told me I had to weld them in place. Can a member w/common sense please help me?

Look at THIS POST and go down to #21 and #24 for my solution to securing the insert in the side pipe. Your side pipe should slide about 4 inches up onto the header. Hope this helps.

I used some from Classic Chambered Exhaust a few years back and they slipped into the tube with a slightly snug fit if this is what you're looking for. Never welded into place in case I need to remove

Side pipe inserts typically just drop in to the side tubes before you attach them to the discharge ends of the header collector, . STS makes some good ones. Not cheap but they are popular around here.

Yep, my Maxflow inserts just lay in there.

Not sure how the OBX inserts attach but when I had Doug's inserts, they just drop in and they wedge themselves in, you just tap them in with a wood block. When it came time to remove them several months later they came back out again with a little tapping with a wood block, or maybe I just tapped the sidepipe on wood. The STS baffles are different in that they have two tabs with weld nuts. You match drill the sidepipe to those holes, then slide in the baffle, then bolt them in using red Loctite.
