Lars actually is a figment of too many adult beverages. The CCC (Colorado Corvette Crazies - mostly a bunch of C2 drivers) found him rummaging through trash bins in a lower downtown Denver alley looking for the last dregs in discarded Bud, Miller, and Coors cans. We cleaned him up a bit (not much though; he is just to groty to touch), and thought we would pose him standing over engines and the like. We also put him in a painter's suit, which he used as a latrine (we found that he isn't potty trained). We don't think his name is "Lars" either....he keeps calling himself "Big Black Johnson". His eating and drinking habits are pretty disgusting (early teens and pre-teens laugh when they see him doing these things), but he is sorta lovable in an eclectic, puppy kind of of way. The CCC thought about making him a mascot but decided not to sully our outstanding reputations and community positions.
He drools, and his nose always runs. He'll kiss your neck if you turn your back on him. He hawked a big one into the secondaries on my carb while mumbling something about doing weird things with venturies.
Be careful of this guy. Here he is just before we took him back downtown.
;) ;)

Oh, GAWD... the TRUTH is out...!
Jeff, the official photographer for the CCC and part-time wanna-be for the National Enquirer, busted me again!
But I want you all to notice: None of those beers say any of the following bad words on the labels: Lite, Non, Free, or Low.
Jeff - was that photo taken before 10am...?

Lars
Forget about Australia! If you fancy a trip to the UK, and Europe, I know they'll be plenty to keep you busy! And, despite what you've heard, all our beer isn't warm! I'll keep you in Hoegarten if you'll give my carb the once over!!

Re: WHO IS LARS???????? (71,454,4spd)
Aw, man, Joey... and I thought you and me was drinkin' pals...!  I'm gonna' have to yank my shims and springs out of your distributor just for that!
I see you're posting some pretty strong times for the car - did it go faster after we did the distributor..? Do you know what it was running before?
 Hey Lars, I didn't post it, that was one of your other buddy's, but I sure got a kick out of it.....
Yes sir, I see an improvement. The best time I got at the track before you worked your magic was a 13.69. I feel a much smoother stronger bottom end now. But I did notice a drop in top end power, I am assuming and hoping that that is because I haven't replaced my vacuum advance yet. I have it sitting on my desk, just haven't built up the courage to "fiddle" with the distributor yet. Hopefully I will do it soon. Remember anytime you are in the area, I will bring the beer!!! :yesnod:
As an original member of the ccc this is all I have to say, Lars and I filled a 55 gallon trash can up with empty beer bottles and jack bottles in under 6 hours. Enough said.
Oh, one other thing. Lars offered to help me paint my C-2 that he is leaning on in that picture because we haven't been able to buff out the grease that his hair left.
See ya soon Lars.
Kurt
Let me tell you about the real Lars. The man is just a tuning 'ho. I mean you walk into any NAPA or Advance Auto Parts and scribbled on the bathroom wall "For a good tune call Lars". Oh sure he will tune your vette like it's never been tuned before. He left me breathless and begging for more. What that man can do with his screwdriver should be illegal. I hear he was trained in the Red Light districts of Norway. But after he is done with you, its on to the next poor sucker with a lonely q-jet, and a wife who has gone cold and not touched his distributor in months. I felt so cheap and used after he was done with me. But would I let him touch my wrenches again, you bet!
In the summer months you will find him walking the pits of Bandimere Speedway in his tight coveralls with his tools all hanging out. Pretty disgusting.
So please stay away from this man. You will just be hurt in the end, it's not worth it.
Lars is THE MAN. I was fortunate to get my Rochester into him just before he had to take a self imposed break. He is one of the reasons that the Corvetteforum is so active and popular. I posted a mention of Lars on the Chevelleforum board a while back and immediately a couple of their members knew of him.
Good deeds and good people go a long way.

well after all the great things you all have told me, I only have one more thing to say: :D
 HEY LARS, ALL THE CANADIAN BEER YOU CAN DRINK, FOR A TRIP TO SOUTHERN ONTARIO!!!!!

You guys up in Canada seem to have a pretty good group of enthusiasts, and I'd sure love to get up there some day to tune and party with all of you - that would truly be a ball. I don't have to speak French, do I...? That will require more beer...
...And don't listen to anything the Colorado Corvette Crazies say about me... they're just feeling bad because I drank their beer, drove their cars, opened their drawers and touched their tools.... Now they feel cheap and violated.
I am also one of the fortunate individuals and got ny carb to LARS just before he went out of business. Incredible service and he may have made minimum wage . . . MAYBE. He must have figured out how to get 48 hours out of one day! The man spent a lot of time on the phone with me whenever I called. Can't imagine making myself that available for others, what a SAINT (assuming saints are allowed to drink beer).
Hey Lars! i think you sent that email to a couple of other people too  well my car is all painted, but it has a few blemishes. i dont know if you have ever worked with prowler orange, but it is a PITA!! i wanted to know if you could help me out with it. we think we used the wrong primer on the urathane front spoiler because its chipping off a little. there is a little dirt in the clear, but it looks like it will buff out, and a couple spots where it looks like the paint has sagged. it sound weird, but i think the clear get heavy on the paint and moves it. the gas door i bought, has a dent and my dad forgot i wanted to shave the emblem, so that need to be done, and he said a mirror got dropped. pretty minor stuff all in all. needs a buff to look perfect, but it looks great without one. my q-jet is running a little rich, but that may be because the smog pump is off and the gas is about 3 months old. poops a little carbon at WOT. Whats the name and address of your Shop? any C2s hanging out there? :D
I sent my original carb off for cosmetic restoration(not by Lars) When I got it back it would not run. It ran fine before the beautication process. Lars offered to set it up correctly so it would run right again at no charge, and he hadn't even done the original work. (The guys that did said nothing they could do about it) But with the help of Lars' tunning paper, I was able to set it up correctly and it now runs just great. Thanks again Lars.
