Default Plug wire recommendation-Mild Small Block

I have a .030 over 350, Vortec heads, extreme energy 274 cam, aluminum intake, 750 Holley, headers and sidepipes. 4 speed, 3.55 gears. What wires do you guys recommend? I do have an aftermarket stereo with an amp if that makes any difference.

I like summit wires for mild stuff but build yourself msd or moroso are nice, well last set/box of MSD I had several wires that tested bad no matter how many times i redid the ends.

How about mm size, core type, etc? I have not installed cut to fit spark plug wires in probably twenty years or more.

As I recall, most plugwire looms will not handle a size 9 but will fit 8.5. Always check first.
I used to buy the kits and make my own sets. Now I question, why bother?
I really like the custom fit MSD. Taylor makes a decent set in several colors too.

If you have headers use a 90* boot made of silicone. And that is the difference between a $19.95 set and a $90 set: The plug terminals. You get what you pay for.

And do yourself a favor and order two sets of plug wire number tags. One for each end of the wire.

Same here. Very good wires.
The real question I think should be is it HEI or points. The energy going down the wire and the plug gap is going to determine it's propensity to jump through the wire to ground vs the gap at the plug.

I would say any solid core or resistor core wire would do. Spiral wound not necessarily needed. I would still go with silicone ends though for durability and heat resistance.
But the spiral wound may have a longer life and reduce or eliminate radio interference.

I should add that if the wires are run in stock placement I would probably run spiral wound since they are kinda jammed together, just to eliminate/reduce the possibility of cross fire.

You dont need anything special.
Used Summit brand for many yrs, nothing wrong with them.

Latest go to wire is made by Napa, Belden brand
8mm nice glossy non stick surface for oil, fit tight and dont stick out enough to hit headers.
Best part is they are $28 a set.

Good quality resistor wires (similar to stock wires) is what you want. Buy them at NAPA or other reputable store. Stuff on the internet is cheaper...but mostly cr@p.

I have 10 mm taylor wires on mine made my own ends. Make your looms out of tie wraps the same color as your wires.

90% of what I work on or build get the 73051 Taylor 8mm make your own set. I use the Taylor cut and crimp tool and can do a set of 8 in less than an hour.

It has 90 at the plug and either HEI or Socket style on the other end....comes with both....and you make your own coil wire...
