I just got my new Summit catalogue. In it, they have remanufactured Q-Jets with their "Made in the USA" label. I understand that this means all the work was done in the US, and all the components were made in the US.
I'd just as soon get rid of the Edelbrock my car came with and go back to the original.
Has anybody tried one of these?

If you get one buy Cliff Ruggle book and take it apart and check it thoroughly. I bought a NOS edelbrock quadrjet a couple years back from a member. It was brand new inthe box. I took it aprt and did some minor work to it and it worked great. Difference is it was new and htese are rebuilds....might be a chance.
China is making repro Q-jets. Lars and others have been checking one out and have found many manufacturing issues with it. Don't know that the ad you saw referred to this unit; but I am not aware of any other "new" source for Q-jets. Edelbrock did own the rights to reproduct the Q-jet and they bought all the original equipment from Rochester. If they have started up that process again, GREAT !! And, if so, it would be best for Lars, et al, to check out THAT product before dropping boku $$$ on one. Until then, an UNMOLESTED old, cruddy Q-Jet should be purchased and sent to Lars for refurbish and set up. Definitely the way to go at this time....
Ah guys, the OP was not talking a new Q-Jet, he clearly stated it was a supposedly USA rebuilt Q-Jet. But from what Lars has stated you might be better off with a chinesium ripoff.
BTW - OP - I looked at Summit's website. No where did it state this was a US rebuild, this just as well could be some crap from china that Summit is selling. Buyer beware.

It was in the latest catalogue, pg 15, and stated clearly that all work was done in the US, with new internal components. It also says each one is flow-bench tested and calibrated.
Edelbrock does not have a "Lars"...... You can't take piles of parts and make 'original' configuration carbs out of them. I suspect the 'remanufacturing' process is very similar to all the other rebuilders: tear the old stuff down; put similar-looking parts in the same big pile; clean parts; then go to the "parts smorgasbord" and pick out enough that will build a pseudo-QJet; repackage it real purty and sell it.
This is NOT how Edelbrock did this back when they bought the tooling from Rochester. But, sadly, I suspect that's how it is being done, today.
The reviews on the ones that people have bought suck. Same old crap. Cross thread fuel fitting, leaks......why Summit would take a chance on this is mind boggling, and I bet they do not sell these in 6 months.
The Chinesium Q-Jet was well documented here by myself ( I bought it) and Lars......he made it work, but it was a skill level 8 to 10 deal......I may have the only one in the United States that actually functions.
Search for my thread and Lars continuation thread....
I bought a really nice unmolested 1978 Q-jet with linkage for auto and cruise last week for $25. Opened it up and only thing that's been done is the float needle and seat have been replaced. Still has the metal float even. New top gasket. Not even rusty.
Will do perfectly as a spare for my 77 once I go through it with Cliff's book.
You can find them in good rebuildable condition every once in a while. I look on facebook market place and craigs list.

Q-Jets were never built with metal floats... get that out of there and install the correct NitroFill float - the aftermarket metal floats are complete junk, and will not run right.

Thanks Lars, I thought that the metal one was OEM.
Weird my 77 also had that metal float in it. Must have been a common replacement back whenever.
I replaced it with the nitro-fill float and will with this one too. I believe It was also stated in Cliffs book that the metal ones were junk.
It's gonna get a thorough going through to make it a good carb. Takes me a lot longer vs someone who knows what they're doing
