Default Power

Hey guys I have a 1978 with an l82 and the four speed. And I would love to make some good power out of it. Now I don’t have the cash to do it now I would love to get a plan in place. What’s the best way for me to make some big power for a good price on these? How hard is it to run a blower or a pro charger? What do y’all recommend for me to make some serious power

What do you consider "Serious Power"?

What makes you think you have an L82? You had an L48 dash in your last thread. Please post some engine photos, there or here. Start with the engine stamp pad.

Have you emailed @lars and followed his timing instructions yet? It made a noticeable difference on my 80 4-speed, and a tremendous difference in my 79 Auto. Gather the low hanging fruit first, and don't buy anything that won't work with your actual build. If you really want a turbo, you should start with a platform that has native EFI, a programmable ECU with engine diagnostics, and can handle "serious power" without needing to touch the short block.

Turbo builds:

Hey guys thanks for all your responses to answer some questions yes I know this is an l82. The dash in the photos I posted a bit back are from when I was still looking I found my one now and I love it. It has an l82 emblem and an l82 dash. As of now I’m just gonna put a set of side pipes on it and maybe a carb. But in the future either with this car or another I’d wanna take this engine out maybe either buy a bare block or keep this one and make around 600-800 wheel. Like I said I don’t have the cash for it now because I gotta rebuild this first I’m doing a new interior and some body work getting new t tops so my wallet is crying LMAO. but in the future I want to build a drag car and I’ve seen no one really drag these super competitively and I wanna try to do so. So I’m seeing how can I make some really good power around that 600-800 range to start I’m open to any and all ideas I just wanna learn what can I do and what do I need to turn this thing or another c3 down the line into an absolute **** missile.

You live in Colorado or something ? Whatcha smoking? Here's my 68 big block. 630hp. Very competitive.....600 to 800 hp to the wheel....lots of work, not just engine/drivetrain wise but chassis and roll bar etc. Can be done, anything can be done with enough money.

LMAO damn man that’s a clean unit I did not mean to offend. I just feel like I don’t see very many but **** is yours badass. Yeah I just wanted to see what people have been doing. I love these cars and I love drag racing and I just don’t feel like I see many C3’s I must be looking in the wrong places lol. What’s the set up on that thing and how do you get all that power down?
