70 Headlight console red alert light
On my 1970 Corvette, when I pull the headlight switch to “ ON”, the headlights come up and the center console red light “Headlights” illuminates. The light stays “ON” once the headlights are fully up. I thought the red console light was supposed to extinguish once the headlights were fully extended! The red console light is only an “ In-transit” light.
Is there a switch in the mechanism that may be the problem?

There is a switch in EACH headlight mechanism that shuts the dash warning light off when the headlights are fully open.

The upper arrow points to the tab on the linkage that closes the swich. The lower arrow points to the 'button' on the switch.
