New Dodge Hemi
While I was young we had more than our share of MOPARS, and my dad bought his '68 HEMI GTX when he came back from Nam. It was running high 10's low 11's with some tweaking and some slicks. He campaigned that car for years

Here was our '68 Charger R/t 440-6pac w/ 4 speed and pistol grip.

For those who doubt the power and potential of the 426 HEMI, I feel sorry for you.
You are either uninformed, or too brand loyal to know the difference.

I've got a NOS 426 HEMI fender badge from a 68 Road Runner (one of my sisters boyfriends gave it to me back around 1970)
I have to agree with NHvette my silverado 5.3 is rated at 295 HP

If the thing is too damn big to fit between the fenders of a C3 i'm just not interested.

The 426 HEMI clearly has some ground on the base iron 427 but it's no match for an L-88 Aluminum 427 !
....just ask Chuck Harmon !

Heres the other site, http://www.nitroalley.net You can also actually hear the A990 run if you seek out the A990 Cuda Page by pushing the "start engine" button

Back in 1969 I had a Dodge Dart 340-4speed and I guy I knew had a 69 Dodge hemi Charger. If he spent the morning tuning the car, then he would pull me about 4 or 5 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. But, a week or so later, I had no problem staying with him and sometimes pull him him by a couple of car lengths. Remember this was a stock, out of the show room car, with the factory cam, and no headers installed.
Part of it was (he was a miserable driver) but part of it was the real weakness was the hemi's sensitivity to tuning.
Another engine that rocked when built up was the BOSS 429. I went to a couple IHRA shows in the early '90's when they had the 'mountain motor' class, and the guys without a BOSS had to work way harder.

Let's just say the Vettes didn't have a prayer. :nonod: :(
I'll take the Chevy. What do these overrated engines cost anyway. With the same amount of money that you would spend on the BOSS or A990 i could build a Chevy stroker that would walk you.
