I am the wife!! I love my vette. I bought it about 9 months ago and I love it. It has been my dream since I was 5 years old to have a C3. I am 5'3" and sit on a towel on the seat. I love the T-Tops off!! Actually my hubby does drive it and I think he like it too! He is a mechanic by trade so whenever my car needs worked oh he's driving it to the shop! In fact he just put a new starter on it yesterday!!
Not only did the bride drive the Vette by herself to church, she proceeded to let some of her friends drive it. I had to put the quaheely to that. She wants to drive it to work in downtown Austin, and she will do it this week.
Nothing is better than sharing that Vette. It's a beautiful thing.
I hear ya! I'm the wife too. My two vettes are up and running, Greg's is still a work in progress. He drives mine all the time. I've been trying to talk him into driving one down the 1/4 mile so that once his is done I can drive his down the 1/4 mile, but he hasn't taken me up on the offer yet! ~Juliet
My fiance wants to learn to drive a 4-speed but I've convinced her that the clutch is "just to hard to push." I also threw in an "I love you too much to let anything bad happen to you." That showed her I was more concerned about her than the car.... I think she almost believed me!!!
Wife took off in mine a couple nights ago, burned the clutch all the way up the street, dinged my headers on the speed bump and immediately enraged several neighbors.
After the severe scolding and lessons on proper clutch and engine break in procedures I think she has decided to leave the vette alone
My wife drives ours every now and then. I think she is kinda scared of it. The first time she took it out, she gave it some gas and smoked the tires for about 10 feet. As a side note, she was with me one day and I booted it while going ~30mph. The rear broke loose and we were pressed hard into our seats. She hit a new high octive when she screamed at me that we were "out of control" That was stupid to do. Now all she thinks I do is race around

My ex girlfriend and another girl I took out on a date I let drive...to this day I can hear my car's screams (aka transmission grinding)...never again, unless there is another beautiful 5'10'' blonde out there who likes corvettes, mwhahaha
Yep, many times. She did not drive it the first few years we were Married. In 96 we were in the process of building a new house when a Old man ran a pick up red light and totaled her SUV. We were told while we were build an waiting to close we could not take out any loans. So she used the 80 C-3 as a daily driver for five months. She was smart enough to know to back it into all parking places, that way she would not hit the front.
She would much rather drive an SUV, her Xterra. However her favorite vehicle is my 1 ton crew Cab dooly. Its very hard to keep her out of my truck.
My 22 year old daughter has driven the vette with me in it once. My 17 year old daughter and my 16 year old daughter have never driven it.
No one else has driven it since I bought it in 84.
My Harley has only been driven by me, and the head mechanic that built the motor. I trust him on it more than me.
I am trying to convince the wife to let me get her a new Harley, but I would not let her ride mine. I have to much time and money in it.
Christine was scared at first, but I got her to stomp on it last time she took it out. She wants a late C1 or a C2 some day. That's something I have no problem providing She can't drive stick yet, once I do the swap I might have to give some driving lessons...
She can't see over the hood, at least that's her explanation for not driving it. But I think other reasons are that she is scared that something happens to it and she has never driven automatic before.. That's correct, I guess that about 95% of cars in here have manual transmissions...
My wife has driven my Shark once before. She said she couldn't see anything over the tall fenders and the longer front-end scared her on my Mako so that was it. She hasn't driven my car since.
