The top heavy girls support the split, so if you want them to hang out with you, you better vote "Split". (And they need all the support they can get!!!) :
I agree that all the OT posts of late should be good reason to split. Considering how many people we have visit the C3 section I would say we have terrible voter turnout.
TT, are you ready to end the poll as soon as the yes vote reaches a majority? Stay sharp.
I'll tell ya what I would vote for ... NOT splitting the tech/general
but adding a 'C3-fringe' or 'C3-OT' section.
I like to post or read a little OT from time to time - but I really
crave the technical knowledge. Split the OT stuff to the side,
not the technical and/or performance stuff. Geeez ....
isn't this what the "splitters" really want ?
PS - I would change my vote to split - but you can't change it.
NOT - PSYCH !!!!
I think the biggest fear of the "non-splitters" is that more people will hang out in the tech section and nobody will read or answer their "what color should I paint my intake bolts" and "do my new flame decals match my boxer shorts".
I know if there was a tech section I would hang EXCLUSIVELY there. HEY!!! There's some motivation! If they open a tech section you can banish that dillweed Dep to it and never have to read his posts that make you all peed off.

That's exactly what I mean, the corvette related stuff does not bother me, being technical, performance, resto..whatever. The stuff that I don't want to see are compeltely OT posts that obviously don't really belong here.
this O/T crap takes up a lot of bandwidth, if someone wants to get ahold of specific ppl for an O/T discussioin email them, IM them but pls leave it off the forum. It is no wonder why some of the most respected forum members have left or rarely visit this site anymore. As someone once stated maybe if there is an O/T post made in here, members should contact the mods to have it moved to its proper area. Many a time I don't see any difference btn what "George" posts and most anyother O?T topic, they are both irrelevant to the discussion of C3's. I don't have any problem with new members asking previously discussed questions either, we were all there once; but to have some of the worst O/T posting offenders come down on them for not using the search engine just seems ludicrous and small minded.
GDH:I am definitely NOT for jumping on newbies to "use the search engine". Most times when I use it I DON'T find what I'm looking for anyway. And you are right...most of the regulars that posted here a LOT in the old days are almost never here now. For sure the OT posts need to be moved OUT of the C3 forum. But imagine how many times a regular has seen the obviously "idiot" questions being asked. Not the ones like "what gap should I set my plugs at", but ones like "Should I BUY a Corvette?" or "does this color look cool?". That type of junk is just someone posting to get his star count increased or to see himself in print. I have been gone for a pretty long time and only recently started posting to the forum. I am by no means a "respected member"
(HA!...far from it). But looking at the posts that are there now, I see NOTHING even remotely intresting to reply to. There is a good chance that most of the people posting now are owners of Corvettes that the "regulars" don't own. It sure looks like most all of the people posting own 1975 and later cars and smallblock crate engines. Dang few posts about big block engines. I think the drop in price of the late year C3s has resulted in a large jump in ownership of those cars and the forum reflects it. Quite honestly, big block/chrome bumper owners aren't even remotely interested in reading about the endless posts about 383 engines and tiny-valve heads. Many of the regulars who are gone are guys that own a big block Vette. I used to see Chuck Harmon posting here all the time. Ditto for GDaina. There are guys on here that built ZL-1 clone engines and I would love to hear from them. But they are all gone too.
Would a split for a tech section bring them back? Maybe. Would less OT posts and more rigid enforcement of the rules bring them back? I dunno. But if the regulars continue to leave, the forum's source of reliable information will leave with them. You will end up with experts on "what color should I paint my car" and nobody will know squat about
much else.
I have to agree with Dep. I don't want to bash any members new or otherwise. However, in the past I could post a technical question and in a matter of minutes I would have either an answer or a good suggestion from several people. Now when I post a question if I don't keep up with it it will be bumped to the next page in no time. I posted a reply to one of my posts a few days ago saying that I have changed my mind and support a split. That was the only reply I had on a tech question for a good portion of the day. I say split! I also say please come back to the senior members who have been gone to long! I need your knowledge.
