Those valve covers are only temporary.. I want to get some fabricated covers.. However - I want covers on which I can re-use my wire looms..

Planning on installing the electrical water pump tonight. I'll also install the trans temperature gauge. I also might start to fabricate sheet aluminum covers for the cuts around the rollbar and for where my heater used to be..

I wouldn't doubt it. You should've heard my motor when it was in his car. 4" open side pipes! I don't think my open headers were as loud because at least they are under the car!

His new motor has a few more cubes to make noise with!

Grats on the install Olivier!!

Looking good Oliver. Are you bringing it back to the Cruise In? Should be fun to watch at Beach Bend if it doesn't rain it out.

Where are your ARP header studs and i would just say "NO" to bronze gear. You could have the poly gear arrive before this weekend if you call today!

Gotta agree, my poly gear has zero wear after over 1000 miles, little expensive though. As the bronze gear wears the timing becomes erratic

The gear came with the cam... Why would they include it if it wouldn't last?

February's HOT ROD magazine has an interesting article called Taxing the IRS. They describe in detail some of the modifications made by Tom's Diff's. There are some good before and after pics of internal components, describing where each piece was modified.

It has to do with the hardness of the cam gear. If I remember correctly if it is a billit or hard steel cam gear you had to run the bronze gear; other wise it would chew up the distributor gear. That was the compromise you had to make to run a roller cam. That has since changed with softer distributor gears (iron) on less aggresive roller cams. With the poly gear you can run the agresssive ramps and it will not wear.

I was sceptical a plastic gear would wear like it does; but mine has lasted very well with .650+ lift and 7000 rpms.

Good luck on the new motor Oliver
