1988 Corvette seat issue.
the drivers
seat of my vet is stuck in one position. it seems that the seat
won't move anymore because the electrical motor is gone or the fuse
is gone. since i'm not a machanic do you have any suggestions to
what may be wrong with the seat? i moved the seat back one day and
now it won't move back forward.

When you press the buttons to move it forward/back/tilt/wherever else, do you hear any sounds?

Melting Slicks
If the track is out it is easy to replace. On the front bottom of the seat there is a clip, unclip that the bottom seat cushion will come right out (if base seat) If sport seat the bottom will have air tubes attaching it to the frame just move the bottom out of the way. There are 4 bolts holding down the frame take those out. Now you see the track make sure the electrical connector is still attached. If so unclip it and remove the four bolts holding the track to the floor. Simply pull it out and put a new one in. Mid america has em, so does ebay.

I have a 1987 with the same problem. My seat is stuck all the way back and I bought a replacement motor and rails on eBay. I can get to the two front bolts but the problem is I just can't see how to move the seat forward to get to the rear bolts. The gears are apparently stripped on the original as it makes a grinding sound when I push the button forward. Any ideas how to move the seat forward? Thanks

Had the same thing happen on my 89 and the motor was rust seized and the gear part had been chewing up a beer bottle cap. I replaced my power seat rails with manuals and called it a day. If you wanna fix this, let me tell ya, just by looking at my old power seat rails, its gonna be a PITA.

with Ibuyvettes, I believe that you can just take the seat bottom out. There is a wire "hook" at the bottom front of the seat. Use your hand to press down on the front of the cushion and push the wire hook toward the back, then lift the seat bottom out. You can then see the back bolts to remove it.
BTW I have a drivers side power seat frame and a pass side manual seat frame from an 86 if you are interested.
