Someone should be shot for treating any Corvette like that. I am sure that it could be brought back to life but the cost would be astronomical.
I actually passed on buying a 30,000 mile black ZR-1 in favor of the extremely low mile Ruby that I purchased instead. I just love the look of our cars and they go plenty fast for me. I am sure that's it has been posted many times ... but the fuel efficiency on a ZR-1 would have to be terrible. Anyway ... I guess you wouldn't buy a car like that to save on gas ... or any Vette for that matter.
That's just about the worst case of neglect I have ever seen. And a ZR1 to boot. Absolute embarassment to our hobby !!!!!!
Now I would like to have the opportunity and the $$$$ to bring that car back to original condition. I'm looking for financial partners on this one........ Anyone interested ?????
Maryland had some snow(In my area 1-2 inches) but it's all gone today. Our winters are normally pretty mild, no reason to lock the Vette up all winter. I don't drive mine when the roads are wet, I like to keep it clean. I only put 2 to 3,000 miles a year on it, waxing it more than driving it. So it will get out all year long, but only on clean dry roads. I know, I know, Garage Queen.
I don't want to start a pizzing contest here but since this is a "Ruby" thread, I have a question for all other Ruby owners. Why is it that on this forum and others, everyone seems to feel like they need to categorize our cars as "Rubies" rather than just calling them the 40th Anniversary cars? Yes, they are Ruby in color and only the 40th Anniversary cars were our color combination.
I got into a dead end argument awhile back on this forum with some other '93 owners that want to stick our emblems on their cars and to call all 1993 model year cars "40th Anniversary" cars and it just isn't so. Every single piece of documentation from GM supports this fact including our RPO codes, our window stickers, the official GM 1993 brochure, every ad created by GM for the 1993 Anniversary models, every book written about the lineage of the Corvette line, every official GM piece ever written about the Anniversary package and even the Corvette Museum itself. With that being said, for some reason 40th Anniversary owners feel the need to call their cars Rubies instead (which they are).... but again, they are only Rubies because they are true 40th Anniversary editions.
Oh .... and I don't want to hear the weak argument that because GM put stitching on the headrests of all 1993 models to commemorate the 40th year and that somehow makes all 1993 models 40th Anniversary Editions. Anyway, I know this isn't a popular discussion but as a 40th owner, it frustrates me that other owners don't wear that fact proudly and defend it but rather seem to run and hide behind the term "Ruby" instead.
interesting.... never thought about it but you do have a point.... in essence it would be like everyone claiming that their car was the Pace Car edition even when their car had none of the pace car paint and badges....
I guess for me the bottom line is I know I have a 40th anniversary car and don't have to do much to prove it while others who have 93s will have to go into a long explanation trying to convince (someone, I don't know who) that their car is a 40th anniversary car....
The 40th _VS_ Ruby? As we all know all 93's are 40th year of Corvette. Calling it a Ruby separates it from all the other 93's. As stated the RPO code is what makes it a 40th anniversary edition.IMHO
You can put ZR-1 badges on your car if you want to, how many Camaro's carry Z-28 badges?
Bottom Line, it's only a car!
my ruby with the new rims and tires....17X9.5 in the front, Vrdestein 275/40/17, 17X10.5 on the rear Vrdestein 315/35/17
Can you give us a low shot from the rear of the car ? I am thinking of doing the same thing with tires and wheels and would like to see what they look like in terms of stance from the rear.

Technically every '93 Vette is a 40th anniversray model and the Rubies just have the special appearance package to show it.
I wonder why they didn't put the 40th anniversary hood badges on all the 93's?
C'mon man don't start reachin'. Because they are part of the Ruby appearance package that commemorates the 40th year of the Vette, you know.....1993. But if we really want to be accurate it's really the 39th Anny since '83 was skipped. As far as embroidering the 40th on the seats, I have no idea. Maybe they ordered way too much thread and put it on all of the seats so it wouldn't go to waste.

see thats why it doesnt make sense to me... if you stitch 40th on the seats why not the badge on the hood?
