The vibe is definetly less positive and I find there is a more trolling than in the past, however the C4 forums are still a great techical resource, especially for advanced stuff like engine builds and FI.

You just have to tune out the "noise" and not let it bother you.

I have seen many of the "there are no stupid questions"
but yet sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get a response unless we are well known on here. I consider myself a "NEWBE" but I also contributed to the forum, I understand that almost everything someone could think of is probably somewhere in the search area, but sometimes a person might want to here some opinions from all the knowledge on the Forum, instead of just looking it up. I thought that is what the Forum was for? I found myself not using the forum for sometime due to rude individuals, but i am gonna give it another shot.

Although I'm not the old timer that Brian is, yet the cyclic turn of members and gnashing of teeth is to be expected.

I'm not a mechanic and don't play one on TV but I do like to tinker and have found working on the vette very relaxing and therapeutic. Because of this site I'll work on things that I would not have ever imagined tackling before.

There was another site I joined last year that I will never sign in on anymore. All those guys ever did was throw insults. It was really disgusting.

This is probably the best forum out there. I take the trivial stuff here with a grain of salt. Most of the posts & replies are informative. Some clever and some just crack me up
probably the same one I got ban from after my second post. PFFF lame

I couldnt agree more... More times then not. The members who I have had issues with and seen CAUSE issues are the members who have been here for awhile. They think they know everything, and they are rude and snappy...

I come to these forums for 2 reasons. To share my knlowledge and to learn... I think too many people are coming to forums these days with the wrong intensions... All they care about is "whos d!cks bigger" ...

Just my .02!

This is a good thread.
We seem to have one of these every few months or so. I think they get people to thinking about how they reply to a post......at least for a while anyway. Vettes are complicated, so are people but all in all we really seem to manage pretty good on here.

Now, isn't it about time for a "What weight of oil should I use" thread.

Possibly due to pricing we are dealing with first car owners who have no mechanical knowledge whatsoever , no understandings of the "basics" , let alone a Vette?
I always thought a forum was a place for open discussion and audience participation. If you do not want to discuss an issue then don't!
Perhaps you are correct that some get "cranky" when an instant response is not forthcoming immediately, but I'm not sure that that gives you the right to criticize people who in your opinion "have no mechanical knowledge or understanding of the basics".I think there are plenty of excellent mechanics who sometimes have to ask others how to get a car to "crank"!

If you don't like a posters question, you shouldn't respond to it unless you have an answer or an opinion that's relevant to the question. Like my parents taught me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, Don't say anything at all". Well, most of the time anyways.
I have just LOOKED @ a lot responses TO this Situation UMMMMM!!! being a newbie here myself. Yeah ! yur right ! either ya like me or you don't!!!!!!!

noob's and senior member conflict has been going on for quite some time on this forum. After I sold my 91 I stopped visiting the site regularly, but kept an eye on the "C4 for sale thread," as I was interested in an LT4. Now that I have the LT4, and back on the site regularly, I try not to ask questions, but monitor the threads to see if others have asked questions that I can relate to with my vehicle.

Bottom line, there is no stupid question, but there is a correct way to ask it, as there is a correct way to answer it. Respect begets respect.
At least, that's the way it's supposed to go. JMHO.

I'm newish to CF, but I've been on the street racing forums for years( Oh dear God! did i actually say that?)

I like it here on CF. Besides some of the stuck up attitude that floats around sometimes, its nice here.No one is perfect. Everyone was once a newbie.remember that when you reply to a seemingly "dumb" post.
On the "racing forums" you will see an abundance of " suck it up buttercup" or "get thicker skin" or a myriad of niceties. Coming here, It was refreshing to not get that kind of vibe.

Yes , I'm a mechanic IRL. I offer my help at any and every chance. Why? because if you come see me at work it costs you $85 per hour. Not many people take advantage of that, but it's offered.I run into problems every once in a while that stump me. the only way we know everything is if our name was Gordon K.

There are sometimes where I see what would be an inappropriate response to a question. the only dumb question is the one unasked. Granted the younger generation SHOULD research problems before posting. Why? Learn about the car. take the time and READ. I didn't go POOF! and become a mechanic. It took time reading and learning.

On a last note though.........
I know we have a strict " no street racing " thing here. I don't post about it here. But please don't look down your nose at me if I speed. I don't complain about the tickets. Have I been doing this for quite a while? Yes I have. Do I know when and where I can get away with it? Yes sir. Is it illegal? Yes. So is removing your cats though. Not all of us "street racers" are evil and dangerous. Not all of us will go play in rush hour traffic. ( MODS>>> Please don't ban me for being honest)

Just be cool. Be civil. Be friends. That's what corvette ownership is about in the end.
