Transmission can't handle the torque and feels like a dog.
Still waiting on my replacement.
What transmission ? How much horsepower ? I want to buy a 1995-96 LT-1 car and most are automatics. Plan is to yank that engine and put a 450-470HP back in with the goal being 400rwhp. I assumed a 2400 stall would be the only modification required. Provided the transmission is in excellent working order. Would you suggest a high performance rebuild in order to handle this amount of HP ?

I don't know what Vader has under the hood, but 400 rwhp is about 140 rwhp more then a stock LT-1 from what I've read.... That's a whole lot more hp for a stock trans to deal with, but it depends on what you use the car for.. If you track the car I would bet the trans won't last very long, on the street you may be ok for awhile...How about the rear, D36 or D44.??? I have a stage 2 trans in my 89 with about 330 rwhp , this was suggested by my engine builder for longevity....WW
PS.. If you want to go to "Vaders website" there is some great info he has posted over the years..
That's not really a problem. That's just a good excuse to trade up. I know I did. Both woman and car. Proud of both the newer additions. Couldn't be happier.
Just came home, and made the driveway as it started overheating. Steam roiling out of the hood when I got the car stopped.
Going to look at it tomorrow.
Case study as to why you should never trust OEM gauges though. Claimed it was running 215.
Well turns out the plastic barb end on the radiator (on the return side) is broken. I moved the hose farther up and tightened the clamp but I need a radiator. One more OEM part replaced.
Too much Contrast? Just kidding.... needs a repair. http://batee.com/corvette/dcrg/repair/ it should look like this. (my original dash in my 85 still going strong )
It actually illuminates fine it's just a poor photo(ipad cameras suck). The problem is that I have a nearly full tank and the range is displaying 40!!!

You must have a real bad average miles per gallon, check the average mpg it must be real bad. Best way is reset it while on the highway (the right bottom button below the instant/ average selector switch).
The distance to empty will change with the average miles per gallon.
My 85 will show around 300 miles to empty with a full tank and mix of city and highway driving.
Am sure others may do better but my vette sucks gas around town, is great on a long highway trip.
Two feet of snow and cold. Cant wait until spring to change oil and go for drive.

I try and try to finish my winter storage projects but once I go in the garage I turn around and shut the door.

We still have quite a bit of snow here in MI. I have a furnace in my barn, but the pig is empty and I'm not paying $4/gal for L.P. right now....We've had a few days that have been above freezing this last week, but this has been one B.A.M.F. winter.
