94 BUILD in progress, conversion

I am not sure if I missed it, but to install a 8,000 rpm tach, what is involved in it actually working or is it plug and play ?
By the way, very sharp car. The black paint looks pretty freaking deep.
Even though I prefer black wheels, the chrome ones look pretty sharp with that black paint.

well Friday and Saturday I've spent sanding the car and fixing up a couple of rough spots with the fiberglass/paint tech at the marina I work at. Car had a botched paint job underneath and was causing a few spots to bubble. When it's done the car is going to look great I can't wait .

Yes stock engine block, They are stud girdles, which at the moment will be using if i keep these heads. I may go AFR or DART.

Yes stock engine block, solid roller 383 build up. Milodon Main Caps will be installed and Callies Magnum XL, XD rods & JE pistons. SCR (static Compression Ratio) will be 12:1. The gold thing is a Rocker Stud Girdle. Even though i have 7/16 rockers & studs and will be using 3/8 pushrods and guide plates i wanted a little extra insurance. Wasn't that much $$ for the girdle anyway. Wanting to spin this stroker to 6800-7200 RPMs make around 525-550BHP..maybe more... Going with a lightweight rotating assy and fully ported LT4 heads.

Welcome to the "Big Boy" club! That 383 ZF combo is going to put some serious "permagrin" on your face! You doin' good! I can appreciate your accomplishment - and what a wealth of knowledge about your Vette you're gaining. Priceless.
I went through it once -- converting a "hot-water 4-banger/auto" in a 73 Vega (you might be too young to remember those ). I converted to a 350+hp 327/M4 combo. Had to fabricate a bunch of chit, including shifter linkages, drive lines, etc., etc, etc. (Later I swapped a 427 / M4 into an El Camino for the junk 350/auto. Piece o cake, compared to the "Vega project"!
I came w/in writing a check to a local speed shop for a 383 conversion on my 95 LT1/M6 Vette. But, along came my ZR-1 opportunity and a chance to play with a (new to me) DOHC motor (which set an FIA speed/endurance record). But, I'm always interested in guys with the 383 conversions...as I so nearly "went there" myself, and some of 'em are real MONSTERS!
Good luck with your project. Love to see how it works out!

Well final prime is on. Ordered new side lights and looking for a new bumper and side mirrors due to the fact the old ones are too messed up.

If you go with poly bushings be sure to use ONLY synthetic grease with them. Petroleum based grease attacks the polymer matrix in urethane bushings and causes them to crumble and split. Found that out the hard way.
