I'm pretty sure it's a law on how much light you project. Even my HD turns off the driving lights when the high beams are used. I believe it was in the area of 65watts low beam on standard lights. I'm not sure what the lumen rating on LEDs would be be.
Gary
I would THINK so otherwise you would be OK to drive down the road with 3 huge light bars because you want to illuminate the road for 2 miles. Maybe this is why it has to be DOT legal and can only project a certain amount of lumens?
Series vs. parallel makes sense. Thanks. And thanks to Paul as well.
As should be expected, I buy something fun for the 'vette then something of equal or higher value fails. Getting a MAF error code P0100.
So it goes.
WAITAMIMUTE!!!
Guess I missed something? There was no change in the FOG light operation after installing those particular LED headlights? I.e., when switching the high beams ON, the FOG lights go OFF!? Interesting.... If so, yeah...that would suggest those particular lights have (parallel) LOAD resistors built in. Interesting.

Hi Paul. The only combination I DIDN'T try was fog+high beam. But everything else worked as before. i.e. Low+fog, low no fog, high no fog.
Because they list it as working with several specific vehicles, I think grandspt is right, they've installed the proper resistance.

I hope you're right. Maybe this will lead to the fix for my crappy mileage. I'll take it apart when we get back to town. From what I can see, it looks like the wiring might be getting pinched from a coolant hose.

Did you actually test what happens with fog lights on, then turn the high beams on. What happened ?? Make sure you know what's going to happen. We don't need pictures.

Last night was the first real drive with the new lights. I'm blown away by the coverage and color of the new lights. Cutoff is great. Fantastic upgrade.
And, yes the fogs go OFF with High Beams. Factory plug and play for the Corvette!

Resistor in parallel, you mean - to emulate the filament the LED replaced. That would be in addition to series resistance required to limit current to the actual chip sets themselves...

This casts doubt about the differences. LED wins on low beam.
I'm glad HID works for you. But very pleased with this LED setup.
Also, I stopped for gas Saturday and had a no-start situation. I unplugged the MAF and reconnected it. Boom. So far, no more SES. You were right about easy.

Yea it's not a plug and play like the LED. Their whole HID kits are 150, with 15% today LOL. I only have their system in my fogs, but I have wondered about the rotating headlight and ballast as well.
