Actually some people will spent $1500 on a system to make their car sound like azz. Not only is eliminating mufflers the cheapest, it's also the best sounding Corvette exhaust, IMO.

I'm running elims on my L98 with a single high-flow cat. I can't get over myself how good it sounds from outside the car. If you think you like it now, let someone else romp on it while you follow.

I know what you mean, but seeing someone else drive it, your first reaction is "wow, that's a badass car, I want it."

Then you tell yourself you already own it.

Much better than walking up to it in the parking lot. I think I'll wire up a keyless burnout system for those times.

i have the stock cats but is that a 3rd muffler we have or is that another cat right before our pipes split and come out the rear. i was told its a muffler. I wonder the differance would sound if I got high flow cats.

It's pretty unanimous that the elims sound killer on the L98.

There's some mixed reviews on the LT1 with resonance. I suppose the elims could reduce the backpressure in the resonator which might change it's frequency of operation.

Believe it or not, a properly tuned muffler or resonator can actually create a slight vacuum in the exhaust at certain RPMs, and increase flow.

wel i got the LT1 and its head pounding sometimes, but i love it, i dont know what to do about the resonator? should i take it out? will it get really loud or what? mine makes a sweet noise sometimes. its hard to describe but sometimes its almost like a swirl noise or like a scream i duno might be because of my tips, i have stock tips like the c4's but it sounds wicked.

I made cutouts for my 95. Sounds awesome. There is resonance at 2000 rpm, but the beauty of cutouts is when I want it quiet I can bolt the plates back on. It sounds just like stock with the plates in place. Here is a pic and a vid. I would imagine it sounds almost exactly like muffler elims.

Here is the video.

And btw, we made these at home, so they were basically free. I recommend this to anyone wanting a nice sound but not wanting to spend the money.

Here's an idea. Replace the resonator with merged pipes into a single 3" high flow cat. Ditch the precats.

Use a flange or band clamp so you can remove the cat and install a Y pipe when you don't need to smog it. You can get a highflow carsound cat for $60 and have it welded in.

It might be too loud with no cats.

I would not buy pre-made pipes.

Just head to the exhaust shop and let them bend it to fit and weld it. It'll be cheaper and easier and fit better.

If you insist on mandrel bends you can buy a wide radius U-bend from Summit and have your shop cut sections out of it as needed to weld it in with their straight tubing.
