I have no courtesy lights when I open the doors on my 85 corvette. They come on when the hatch is open and when i twist the headlight **** to make them come on.
I checked the fuse in the fuse box, it was good but i replaced it anyways.
Also, my hatch buttons on both doors don't open the hatch, and my rear defogger doesn't work.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem on my 84, but my defogger does work. I read somewhere about a chip inside the car that will go bad and cause this. Read here...

I would check the courtesy light switches. we have gone on a pretty long thread that I started when my lights wouldnt go off. I found that my door ajar switches (on the door, under the latch) were bad (really bad, the drivers side was gone-literally, just empty wires hanging out!). The courtesy light switch is the one on the door pillar. Use a 7/16" deep drive socket and it twists out with the wires attached. Pull the switch from the socket and clean it up with a brush and some WD 40. The drivers side will have three wires and the passenger side will have only two (no door buzzer alarm on drivers door). Pre-twist the wires when you reinstall the switch because the socket spins when you twist it back in. FYI, be carefull taking the switch out when you have it loose, the switch can easily pull out of the socket when you try to thread it through the hole in the pillar. If the switch comes out with no wires on it, then take out the hush panel and feel around for the lost wires. I found this out the hard way, but threading a spare copper wire back through the hole and tying it off on the lost wires got them right back up through the hole again. This is probably the easiest thing to check first before changing out random relays and such. The switches tend to get pretty gunky, especially if the little rubber boots around them are shot (like mine were) and moisture gets in there. The boots are wicked cheap at any of the part suppliers (I got new ones at Zip for $4 each), and worth replacing. The just spin off the backside of the switch. My guess is that this is your problem because the lights work with the hatch, but not with the doors. Good luck!!
If the courtesy light switches were bad, would the door ajar light still come on in the information panel? Because my information panel still shows door ajar when there is a door open.
Thanks a lot for the help. I will try that when i get home today from school.

update: i know its been a while, but i just checked the switches.
How can i tell if they are bad? I cleaned them up with wd40 and an old toothbrush, let them sit for 20 minutes to dry, and put them back in. Still no courtesy lights.
Same thing happened to my 89. Try pulling the switch back out and ground the wires one at a time to see if the lights come on. If they do---the switch is bad. They are pretty cheap. I'd go ahead and replace them. Mine were corroded to the point the driver's side was disentigrated. I had to tap it with a hammer and punch to get it to start turning before i could get it out.
ok, after putting everything back together, i have no lights when i turn the headlight **** to the interior light position, my power locks dont work, and my light on the console doesn't light up when i open it.
WTF?
Any ideas?

I hope you got yourself back to the same problem you started with and you now have lights when you turn the switch on dash...so now to the fix for your 1st problem
You stated the rear hatch buttons on both doors didn't work? but i'm guessing the one in the center console does?..... cam355aro was dead on what the cause is, the door hatch buttons are the give away
behind the "breadbox" is a small control box it is approx half the size of a cigarette package (this is the thing cam355aro) posted a link for ....
you can get to this from removing the top dashpad there is a screw that holds this box to a bracket (have fun with that) i just ....broke mine lose on the wires that go into this box you will see 3 or 4 WHITE wires unplug them and jump them if everything works the box is bad. and you can leave white wires together.
As for the rear defroster the orange light on mine works adn i have voltage to the liftsupports and thats were I stopped....you will notice the red and blue lights thru a iced up tinted rear window trust me
These lights and buttons don't bother me enough to replace the module. I just got all my door panels put back together and in the car. If you isolate the problem and fix it, let us know. You may sway my decision.

I am still having trouble with mine too; I thought I had it all fixed, but then the lights started coming on aftet I turned off the key but had not opened the door yet. I am 100% sure that means that my delay timer is f'd up. I plan on pulling it out and rewiring around it to cut out the delay.
What troubles me about your situation is that the rear hatch switches dont work. I would take the time to pull the door panels off and look for bad wires. when I took mine off I found two wires that had the insulation worn right off. There is a lot of wires behind the panel that will rub. I didn't think the panel was too hard to pull, and it sounds like basically everything that runs through the door is failing on you. The panel is easy to remove, just back out the screws around the bottom of the door, the 4 on the speaker grill, and one on the back edge of the panel near the striker. Then the panel hangs on the top edge of the door; just lift out and up from the bottom and then work it around the door handle and the lock slide; then unplug the wire harnesses that run through it. I will bet you find some bad wires and/or a harness unplugged.
I'm going to pull the door panels today after school.
Why would both of my power locks go out after i put this all together though? It doesn't make sense. If one is unplugged, would it kill the whole system?

not sure about that one, I dont have power locks...could be a bad relay. If you have the service manual, check to see which relay runs the door locks, I believe there is a relay rather than just a fuse.
Just went through this last week with my 87.The lights would not go on when opening doors and rear hatch switches on doors did not work but the one in center console did.It ended up being the delay timer under dash. Its tucked way up there,i just removed dash top to get to it.I replaced mine and everything works the way it should.
If you checked that your door switches(the ones in front jam) are good and you are getting lights when you turn the headlight ****,It is the delay timer!

think you could give me some details on how you found the dalay timer (what it looks like, exactly where it is, etc) I know mine is shot, and I want to remove it and bypass it.
