no start help here

I think i found the problem. The starter motor is stock.
I did a bench test. And nothing. Them i hit the starter couple of times with a hammer an this time the starter work. After that i try again with out hiting the motor and nothing happend.
So iam preaty sure is has been the starter all this time

ok here are the facts
turn the key on the ignition nothing happed
I all ready take the starter motor to a shop to check. 2 times. and the starter motor is OK
battery is new and have 12.5 v at rest. and 12.2v at load
I remove the starter relay and make a direct conection. since my VAT system is gone.
here is the test
yellow wire from ingition swicht alon give me a 12.4v when turn the key
but if I conect to green wire that go down into starter. I get 11.7 v.
every one knows if I dont get at list 12v the starter motor wil not do nothing.
my question
why is when the yellow wire coming from the ignition is disconected. I get 12.4 but if I conected to the green wire that go to starter motor I get 11.7
if Iam not clear with my explanation letmeknow and I will try to explaind better

just to close this one. I did fix the start issue.
even do they test the starter motor. and work ok.. the problem was the starter motor. I rebuild the compleat unit. and now work like new
the problem was. since the shop toll me the first time that the starter motor was working ok. I start looking for the cause of the problem some where else. pushing me away of the real problem. that was the starter motor it self.

Quick check:
Turn on the interior lights and hit the starter switch. If the interior lights do not dim at all when you hit the starter switch, but the starter doesn't operate, you probably aren't energizing the Starter Solenoid. Suspect the ignition switch, starter relay, transmission safety switch (auto only - provides a ground for the starter relay), starter solenoid, or wiring between these devices. If the interior light go very dim or go out when you hit the starter, you are probably energizing the starter solenoid, but there is not sufficient power to operate the starter motor. Suspect the battery cables or the battery.
