Time to close a chapter :(

So my love affair for my 88 has come to an end. Well 2 be truthful I still love the C4 body style but its time to change directions and move up platforms. As most of your know Jim Barth built my 421 and it kicked ***! I cant say enough good things about the guy. He flew in to Toronto from Utah, stayed at my house last year, and helped me tune the car. He really did feel like family. Jim you are first class all the way, and I thank you for going the extra mile and helping out another fellow corvette owner. I know for a fact that Jim and I will be friends for life, and I am hoping to fly out to see him someday.
One of the biggest tipping points to me selling is that eventually my car will need a paint job as the car was purchased back in 1987. I went to a few local businesses and most figures were in the $5000-$7000 range for a REAL nice paint job, and I can not justify putting that money into the car.
Another is that the car is going to be setup for road racing, and for it to be in the same league as say a C5 Z06 I would have to make some improvements in regards to brakes, and suspension.....and as we know that stuff all adds up. The power that the 421 will be missed as it made around 560 foot pounds and weighed only 3230, and I didnt even get to put on the new AFR 220's, as they will be bolted on Sunday for the owner. The motor will probably make in the power range of 465 rwhp and 485 rwtq and will simply FLY!!
Brings me to my next point. The new car......Well I have been thinking pretty hard about the C5 Z06. They weigh about 3060 with a half tank of gas, they have 405hp stock, and are set up for road racing which is pretty cool. Plus the LS motors can easily be modded to make big power.
For the C4 guys I will have some odds and end to sell like a 58 MM Holley Billet TB, camber brace, B&B x-pipe that has been ceramic coated, doug rippie brackets etc......Ill post them soon when I know whether or not the car will sell as a roller or not.
FYI. A forum member has bought the 421 so it will stay in the family, and I am glad because I will be able to see just how much power that stroker makes!!! I have a feeling he will love the power. The most enjoyable thing about that motor was power EVERYWHERE in the curve! No matter what RPM she was ready to PULL!!!!!
Thanks to the C4 community as your guys have been amazing. But in saying that Ill still be posting, but maybe more on the C5 Z06 forums if thats infact what I buy.
It was a good looking car........
That's it in a nutshell. Have a good day!!!

One quick question. What type of exhaust does the car have? I just bought my 85 and it has the same exhaust tips. Been wondering what brand it was. Thanks again.

Yeah ill miss the C4 guys. I learned a chit load about the C4's. It's the B&B system (Billy Boat). Nicest tips hands down IMO for the C4's!!
Too bad you never got it out on the track to see what it was capable or what you really had..
I think if you got it out there and drove it like you hated it your C4 would scare the crap out of you and keep you busy for a long time
Ricky the parts seller

You will like the Z06 though they are a blast.

But still, I would not ever give it up to anyone. The point is to die with as many toys as possible
, so I'll just buy more vettes and keep this 88.

So...the reason you didn't figure this out a couple of years ago is...????

Sorry to hear you are selling!! Keep in touch!

, so I'll just buy more vettes and keep this 88.I understand what you are saying but I have 2 little kids, and we all know the vette isnt practical. With that being said I cant have 2 vettes so this one had to go......
I am taking out the wiring harness right now. I am a little sad because of all the $$$ and hard work I put into the car, but such is life.
I hear you. I think with a soft 60 it would have ran 11.30's or so.......I was never about E.T. however. I enjoyed the pull of the cubes!!

All kidding aside i believe this was what i suggested years back and said I would have done the same If i hadnt already been knee deep in my first stroker build. Sad to see you go but its a good decision.
