Hi Rick, I have to say I was pretty shocked that you sold your engine. But do what you have to do. I did have a good time coming up and meeting you and your family. And we got the 421 sorted out. Hey down the road, I can build a big cube LS engine for you.
I can see another Barth built stroker in Ricks future, it enevitable. Didnt know Rick to well but we have talked on the phone a bit and hes a great guy. Weather you get a c5 or something else I hope it works out for you. Heres some good advice that will take alot of the bite out of selling your car, get a C6 427 ZO6 LS7 and dont look back...
Take care..
Then theres no headache downtime or $ loss figuring it all out.
That was one of my downfalls was that I didnt have much time to work on it with the family.
Ron my thinking right now is a C5 Z06 and prob buy it bone stock.
Drive it for a bit and go from there. From what I understand it is a very good platform in stock trim for some road course stuff and as a daily driver and will get 30 mpg on the hwy.
A little birdy said that longtubes, x pipe, high flows cats, cai, and a cam that will pass emissions with stock heads will be in the 420-430 rwhp range.
Selling off my parts as well speak so I will see how much I come up with. Kinda sad but such is life!
Called my local tuner that does C5's and lots of LS engines, he said .
"add a set of long tube headers / catback and a Supercharger on 2002 Z06 and you will get 550-575 at the wheels realistically"
Thats alot of boost on a non forged bottom end with comp of 10.5. I read that a stock LS6 is around 350-360 rwhp. Curious how that engine would last on a road course being reved.
Hard to have it all youve already been there and the C5 wont be much different
I dont think theres any bone stock car youre going to go roadracing with and just leave things be you know better.
Cant keep perfect paint on a track car.
Maybe if its just an occasional track day that you dont expect much out of other than burning up a set of pads and tires. What is it REALLY that you want and is it realistic? Sounds like iwth a family bills etc time and money arent plentiful to do that.
Plus....the deficit in power you cant ignore that.
Seriously man the best way to buy a car is DONE. All sorted out, no bugs, etc. Go find some finished tricked out ones...write a check turn the key, bam done.
You did the build journey thing how long did it take, cost and look at the result.

Your wife will thank you
Thanks Dad!
Ron even though i am parting my car out I still like or liked it. Ill let u know what way I go. I am looking as we speak.....
Rick, Sorry to hear about the c4 but glad to hear you are getting a new toy.
I hear you, I hardly had time before and now with our first about 4 months old, I find myself with just no time for the Vette. Glad I stopped by and caught this and best of luck on your future endeavors. I'm hoping one day I'll find the time and $ to finish converting the 86 into a full track car...someday...
Sorry to see you go but I am sure we will see you back, with a new car when you find the one your looking for. Good luck on your new project when it comes. Keep in touch and let us know when you find what you want. One a side note. Let me know what you decide to put up for sale. I might consider changing my auto car to a six speed depending on what you want to sell off your car.
