Sorry to see you go after the huge build! The C5 Z06 is really at a sweet spot in price right now though, I've got an '01 I picked up recently and I'm digging it. I'm lucky enough to be able to keep both though.
Life goes on buddy i had may be more mods and money into my C4 and i manned up sold it, but even to this day i still regret it, so its gone but not forgotten.
Owning a C5 z06 now even with SC mods, it still did not made me smile, like my C4 383 stroker did.
Well i would say C5 Z06...stay away from it, i know C5 inside and out literally. So save some pennies and jump straight to C6 LS3 (08 and later C6), beefier drivetrain, 372 CID and badass combo, read Arun's post in canadian section, these LS3's will kill even decent modied C5 Z06.
So dont feel bad (well you going to miss it for sure bud, but keep chip up and look for those LS3's).
Thought I'd log in and say that I'm the new owner of the 421. I currently have two 1990's 6 spds, one coupe and one convertible. I had Jim Barth build me a 396 a few years ago ( he posted pics on the forum), I have a Super Ram on that and the engine is presently in my coupe.
When the 421 arrives, it will go into the coupe and the convertible will get the 396. I know it was hard for Ric to sell the engine, but at least it stays in the "Barth built" family.
I'm pretty busy at work right now, so I think next spring we'll see how the 421 runs. I'm hoping to get the 2 cars dyno'd so we can get the numbers on both cars.
As an aside, it seems that some people here on the forum run down the C4's and I really think that most of those people who probably do, know very little history about the C4 and Corvette Challenge Series and how the C4 turned things around performance wise.

Ric, I'm going to miss you on the forum. We have spoken a couple of times over the years and I know you had a pretty quick car. I had a C5Z and now a C6Z. I was lucky to be able to hang onto my 84 the whole time and turn it into a strip only car. Good luck to you in the future. Willie

Rick, sorry to hear your moving on from the C4. Owning my second C4 after selling my C6 and having spent some serious track time at Spring Mountain in C5's (some time ago), I would agree with Sami. If it means savings a few more bucks and being patient, go for the LS3 and skip the fat *** C5's even though they are great cars. Hope my B&B exhaust goes to good home. Peter
Good luck with your new project once you get going. Ours cars started off as twins and in the same province too. I may come pick up some spare parts off you once you've posted. At least other members won't confuse us anymore because of our similar user ID's LOL!
Hey Rick, I've been gone for a while but it looks like you finally went forward with the 421. What kind of numbers did it produce? Are you happy with the results? Too bad you are calling it quits with the c4. You'll probably be back in a few years
You will be happy to know that the superram / accel ported intake system you sold me is happily working on my 87. I won't be parting with it in a hurry.
Hi Rick, I have to say I was pretty shocked that you sold your engine. But do what you have to do. I did have a good time coming up and meeting you and your family. And we got the 421 sorted out. Hey down the road, I can build a big cube LS engine for you.
Aww Rick I understand. The car is and will always be remembered as an awesome build that you have owned.
Something I get about money into projects and how long they will go.
The dream and fun getting there for this venture is the experience we all enjoy in being car junkies.
From one C4 and Chevy collector I salute you and your new project man.
All kidding aside i believe this was what i suggested years back and said I would have done the same If i hadnt already been knee deep in my first stroker build. Sad to see you go but its a good decision.
What happens is you fall in love with the car, and then next thing you know you have a 421 built for it!
I wouldnt take it back. I am thrilled that I got to know Jim and the guys on this C4 Tech. I am not going anywhere.

Thanks *****.
Say can you tell me how you liked or didnt like the C5 Z06?

Twins? Maybe but mine was always the better looking one!

Sorry buddy, but as we say thats "hotrodding". Right back at you big guy. I have told Monika that Id like to fly out to Utah maybe this year if funds are there are next to see the area, and have a ride in the 450 on the spray. We have spent thousands of hrs on the phone talking about cars over the years and I do really appreciate. I have learnt from you that build it right the first time, and also you get what you pay for.

Look who the car dragged in? wow.
What's up Paul? The 421 made 434 rwhp and 471 rwtq with the smaller 195 cc AFR comp ports. The new owner will be getting the 220 comp ports.
Paul the old combo wasnt maximized because of the exhaust. I am pretty confident that it would have made 445rwhp and 475-480 rwtq with a slight change and a dyno tuned.
The impressive thing about the 421 was just how "smooth" it ran. Jim really does build a good motor.
It was kinda neat having over 500 foot pounds just off idle.
I'm in the same boat with young kids, family, etc. Every year it gets harder to justify the time in the garage and weekends at the track (let alone the money).
The C5Z will be great right away and should be far less work to make it go fast.
The good C5Z info is in the Autocross and Roadrace section fwiw. Kubz and I will look for you over there. We'll be the last of the C4 racers...
