I might consider changing my auto car to a six speed depending on what you want to sell off your car.

Good luck and Take Care

Dodge Viper GTS. I've seen them as low as 37 grand. A lot to blow on a toy, I suppose. R/T 10s even lower in price.....guess it depends on what you have for play money. But, if you gotta keep it Corvette....can't go wrong with a nice C5 Z06 or a C5 already set up for the track or a similar Vette like Ron mentioned that is done.

I cant stand the sound of the Viper exhaust and not a Dodge guy. Plus I remember an old magazine article where the Z06 beat the Snake around the track.

The V10 note is an acquired taste......so they told me about beer during the college years....now I like it. Z06 may have bested it a time or two but I remember most comparos had the GTS taking top honors. C5 Z06 is a good ride to pick up!

I test drove a C5 Z06 and I had to buy one, they're impressive as hell aren't they? I think my '85 has better handling feel to it but the C5Z has everything else.

Rick, I know we have already discussed this, however if you had the opportunity of driving a C5 Z then you should also take an LS3 out for a drive even though the difference in sticker price may be more then you are comfortable with. Satisfy yourself that you are getting all the car you want and can afford at this time. If nothing else you can benchmark the performance and handling characteristics of the C5 and C6 to your (former) C4. The Cdn $ is still strong enough that you may be able to score on a deal from our southern friends. Peter

While I agree the LS3 is awesome, the '08 and newer cars are still going for 30k+ here, don't know how that translates to the canadian used 'vette market but I was finding clean C5Z's for <$22k my '01Z was $17k with 73k miles.

I drove an 02 Z and an 08 6 gear and to be honest i didnt notice much difference in get up and go. I think it would be up to the driver. The Z is impressive and i think it has to do with the light weight and the close ratio trans....

Infact i looked at the stats and they r on par with each other but the older brother does better with mods. I believe the Z does better in the lateral g department. All in all the 08 was about 12k more with both having 50000 k (35000 miles).

I Bought an '01 MN6 C5 about 7 years ago with the idea of dumping the '86. That's where my Coupeguy2001 came from.
I still have both.
The '01 is like a fast 2 seat luxury car with better air conditioning and quieter, and the C4 is like a rowdy mistress. I love both. when the '86 needs work, the '01 is the new daily driver till the '86 is back on her feet.
Latest hiccup was the rocker studs were breaking off because of a bad heat treat. fixed that, and it still gets the blood pumping with the mild 383.....
<------------------------------------------check it out.

I built it on the cheap, and it still is a great daily driver and ultra reliable.
What better car to go to work in every day? 30 mpg highway and 23 around town.

Too bad you couldn't keep it as a daily driver, sell the big inch motor to get your money back, and still have fun with it. AND get the new car as well.

Seems like I am always a generation or two behind. But, I just like the style of the C5 Z over the standard C6.

My friend Marie's Z on the track.

Definitely like the styling of that C5 above. Wonder what the backend looks like?
