Re: Air Foil worth it? (9vette3)
I installed a air foil on my 89, and I did not notice a difference. But, If you look at where the air foil is installed - It does cut the air better or should I say it will flow the air better.
The latest GM high tech magazine installed an airfoil in a mostly stock 1994 LT1 Camaro and picked up a real 5.8 HP increase at the rear tires. That is close to 8 HP at the engine. In my opinion the airfoil is worth the money, where else are you going to get 8 HP for under 50 dollars. The tests were run back to back and they are hard to argue with.

Hi I have an85 z51 and have gone through all this in naivity.
The airfoil works under the conditions that are hidden for the purchaser. The foil is good and do something and even the hp that they claim it top have. It is only that you have to have an engine and intake that do not limit the airflow. For a fully modified engine it works and the idea behind it is true. It is when you ask for higher performance with heads, runners, intake that you will gain the full performance. I guess that you will have about 3 hp gain on the stock L 98. The LT-1is another case as the heads and intake is much better than the L-98. I do not know the case there. But higher aircapacity the engine has the better the airfoil will perform. In any case the foil doesn't any harm. On the contrary it makes the air flow better and with less turbulence entering the plenum part of the intake. One can discuss the price/performance on a pure stock L-98 and as i said I don't know about the LT-1 and up. If you have an air density type of injection system it might be necessary to correct the chip, but I do not really know.
