Im using the factory diverter valve with the original vacuum connection, appears to be operating correctly. When it was out i flushed it out and seemed to flow fine.
Other than air being trapped in the core, that valve should be the only reason why the core isn't getting hot. If you are in a pinch you could just remove that valve and put in a coupler(s).

Thats why Im confused. When I topped off the coolant I unhooked the steam lines and held the rear one up high and when the front one started flowing out coolant i capped it and kept filling until the rear steam line started puking. Then quickly reconnected it to the front. Keep in mind the steam lines tee into the diverter so the heater core should be full. So I'm pretty sure its getting hot. Just cant get any hot air from the system.
OK so.....something wasnt adding up so I crawled back under the dash, moved all the FI wiring out of the way and found that the blend door threaded rod had come out of the plastic clip that links the rod to the cable. Not sure why that happened but I cant push the clip back into the bracket with the threaded rod threaded onto it. So I'm going the make a custom "clip" and use nuts on either side for adjustment. Pictures coming
Ended up welding a #10-24 nut to a 6mm bolt with the head cut off. It was a bitch getting it threaded onto the actuator rod and trying to turn it with one hand from underneath. But it should outlast the car and now I have nice warm heat!
Excellent!!
Heat is a must for me. A/C not so much for my race car.
I drove once in my younger days from Norman, OK to DFW with no heat in a 1970 VW when it was in the teens out the whole trip. Took me about 6 hours because I stopped at every gas station to warm up. I was naive to think that a set of long-johns, pajama pants, 2 pair of jeans, 2 long sleeve undershirts, 2 sweaters and a ski jacket would be enough. Probably needless to say, I got that crap fixed before my drive back home... Haha..
I can handle the heat for the most part. I just sweat my *** off on those late summer nights when I take the car out. It does get brutal if I have to take her out for some reason in the heat of the day but that is extremely rare. Not only is it hot, the 50+rwhp loss from 100+ temps isn't any fun. So she stays parked until well after the sun goes does in the summer.
Great work getting the blend door rod figured out. I had the blend door rod come out on my blend door a few years ago and had no heat, however thankfully in my case I was able to push it back into the clip and it had stayed in place since.

My friend and I used to get on our motorcycles in January and ride the 275 loop just for kicks. We both had ninjas, mine was a ZX6R his was a liter bike cant remember the exact size. But we would see how far we could go before one of us wussed out and stopped to get warm. That aint happening these days lol
Dirty Dingo AC bracket actually showed up today after the post office called and said they shipped it back to the sender. Leave it to a government run business like USPS to male themselves look completely stupid. Anyway the bracket looks like a quality piece, hope to try and get it installed this week.
Did I mention 35 mph 2nd gear sideways burnouts are fun?
These LS engines have lots of power my CTS-V with the 6.2L spins the tires into 3rd easily. Can't wait to get my C4 on the road. wish it wasn't winter.

I use my electric vest, heated seat and electric grips on my BMW R1150RT bike. The worst here is all the road gravel/grit, slush and ice that slows the fun factor. Its been fun sliding into the intersections.
I was going to take my 85 out for a rip but my dang front brakes are still frozen. Just no time right now to fix it. Shame as the old girl needs to get a few miles more miles on the old girl before the end of the year. My heater works awesome. Thanks to you guys I'm going to try to get AC into my vette.

Not gonna work. The tensioner bolts on right where the bracket hits the frame and sticks out about 2 inches. Tech support was very responsive but kept showing my pics of a C3. Sending it back tomorrow and at this point I'll modify the ICT bracket.
Sorry to see that. At least support was responsive. I am glad you got to take her out and spin the tires, awesome! I can't wait to get mine there. I have a very similar build going. I am waiting for some parts as I plan wiring and the best route to lay it in. I'm sure you'll get the bracket to work. I deleted my AC partly because operation was unknown with some funky homemade wiring and the like. But the room I gained was like an acre, ha! Not a big deal for me to loose it.
Blackvetter I found your build and am looking forward to reading about your swap!
I'm going to take my brackets to work and talk to the cnc lead to see if maybe he can help me either rework these brackets or cut me some new ones based off of these. All else fails I'll procure some 1/2" flat plate and borrow my brother inlaws bandsaw and cut my own.

Mike there is a bracket that I think holley makes to reuse the original style R4 compressor, would save on headaches like these. Probably just need a longer belt and custom hoses. I may possibly fab my own brackets using the ict as a template and moving the compressor in towards the engine. A 10x15" piece of 6061 is around 30 bucks.
Correction: my brackets are 3/8" so around $23 hopefully I can have my cnc guy at work run them out for me. I made a paper template to move the compressor in about 3/4" which is as far as it can go without hitting the tensioner. Now I need to transfer it to CAD and make a digital drawing.
I think I may have a plan on the ac lines, if I can get them bent in the right direction
The green line is from the core and goes under the compressor after I do some trim work to the heater hoses. Red line goes through the brackets and blue line goes under the compressor, also after trimming heater hoses
Sorry for the rotated photos but I had to rotate them in paint to mark them up correctly.
I'll still try to get the compressor moved in about 3/4" with my redesigned brackets, if I can get them made. Now I need to find some fitting and see what I can do. Another thing I'll need to do is relocate the air filter, its not in an ideal spot anyway and won't allow me to install the receiver/dryer can.

I'm sure you can get some custom lines made up. Quite a few shops where I live do that. The shop that's doing the work on my car is actually getting a mobile guy to come out and make custom lines on site, once we get the new compressor and fittings. Maybe there is someone like that in your area?
