Well, it is too early to tell. I did notice a 20 degree difference on the oil temp. What I really need to do is hard pipe a duct from the nose to the oil cooler. I just don't really want another FAN going in my car

That "air plow" creates a low pressure area and increases the air flow through your intercooler right?

What I did was to install mine so it pivots to compress when the driveways are too steep. Also, since yours is at the outside corners you will always have issues when you aproach driveways at an angle like most lowered cars do. I hit mine regularly and it's inside the front skid rails.

Here is a modded big mouth.

Pual

Your enginuity is truelly remarkable

Do you have any picks of the pivoting joint? Is it spring loaded???

I assume you got significant results....I'm thinking of doing this to help with cooling my tranny cooler and radiator.

DH,

It's still a work in progress but is heading in the right direction. As to the pivoting, the main part is just a pair of mounted pivot bolts and an extended set of frame saver bolts with slotted holes in the BMAD -- gravity does the rest.

When I first started this poll/post, I was just looking for some information on what works and what doesn’t. I just got to say that the ideas some of you have come up with are truly amazing. I really think some of these are worth a patent, but just sharing these ideas with each other just goes to show you how much Corvette brothers and sisters help each other. I would bet no other cars enthusiasts could even come close.

A BIG wave to all of you!!!

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

Default Fans on strike

I’m not sure if this is the correct place for this but, I’m having a problem with my factory twin fans not coming on at all…?

I looked at the fuses and they were good – not sure how you test to see if the fan relays are good though…

Also, I not sure what else to check – is there a fan control module that could also be causing this?

I know the darn things show be coming on because we have had some 90+ days and the water temp has been going through the moon 220’s..

I have a new $500.00 direct fit two row aluminum radiator coming this week, and I’m dropping in the 160 thermostat – and of course I still need the fans back in action.

Has anyone else had this happen to them??? What was the fix??? Ideas???

Best Regards!

Clayton, I have a 2K, A&A PS1C, air to air big one piece intercooler in front of radiator, methanol injection, cut out fogs with screens, shroud from A&A in place, added a few plastic shrouds around the side to keep the airflow going through the radiators, A4, fans programmed to come on 170 or so.
Last weekend drove from Boulder Colorado to Iowa and back (1200 miles at 80mph) in the hotest weekend so far. Temp outside was 100 - 111 according to vettes display. Ran A/C the whole way, was very comfortable, listened to my 20 GB MP3 hooked up with 1500 watt stereo system - good time just too long of a trip for 3 days.

Bottom line, H2O ran between 194-222 and oil was 205-253. The high H2O and oil temps were at the 111outside temp. The car never burbed or gave any trouble. Thanks Andy for a great system!! BTW, methanol injection never really came into play, except for those few times where passing slow idiots in the left lane happened.

I did experiment with cutting out behind the front license plate and put in wire mesh and installed a little piece of tin at an angle to direct the air coming through the license plate area down to the heat exchangers. (the front bumper crush foam had a 90 degree pocket cut in it, and I didn't want air to back up, so I made this little metal air deflector) I ran with the front license plate on for 30 minutes, then took it off and ran for another 30 minutes in 100-102 outside air temp. Removing the front license plate dropped the oil temp by 7-10F and the H2O by 5-7F. Unfortunately, Colorado law says I must have a front license plate minimum 12" above ground on the front bumper. There are times, I don't need an excuse for the law to pull me over (if you know what I mean), so the license plate is back on.

I am looking to add an external oil cooler - thinking behind driver wheel well, using a fan and exiting on the outside cowl (remove the plastic shroud). Just need to work around the methanol pump.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I was really happy with the car, and the wife and I had a good time in a american engineered car, passing the foreigners, being absolutely comfortable and getting 30.5 mpg!!

Hey DH,

Tranny was between 200-220F.

Rear gear is 3.15, stock wheels and stock tire sizes - have mich pilot sports.

Also lowered the car 1 3/4" front and rear - maybe this helps mpg??

Cheers, Robi

That’s what I want to hear! Sounds like your system is working as it should. 222 and 253 with the A/C on in 111* sure sounds good to me, especially for a single front mounted intercooler. I’ll bet if you put in a better aluminum radiator would make things perfect. I will be going with the dual 4.5” intercooler system, mainly due to living in Las Vegas. In the summer here, 111* is no big deal. I also do a lot of stop and go driving, so cooling is something I really need to be concerned with. By the way, which tires are you using? I’m sure regular street tires won’t give you much traction when you hit the go pedal.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas
